First of all, the information about Pat Rutherford receiving money from the Adoptive Parents to not tell our client where her birth daughter was has no basis for truth at all. It is ludicrous to think that after 29 years of service to both Adoptees And Birth Parents that someone would accuse Pat Rutherford as a "Double Agent".

I would like to see the proof of that ever happening with this individual or anyone for that fact. I actually think that the "accusation" of being a "Double Agent" would tell most people what type of person we might be dealing with.

Pat Rutherford is an adoptive father. This is the reason he started Worldwide Tracers in 1980. The birthmother he located for his adopted children, to this day, calls my parents every week, spends Christmas and Thanksgiving with them, every month she shares lunch with Pat Rutherford, his wife, all of the children, their children and The Birth Mother. If he is so accepting of the birthmother of his own adopted children, then why would he be this "double agent" as the complaintant described.

Most likely, we searched for the adoptee when she was under 18 - 21. It is illegal to reunite the birthmother with their adoptee if the child is under 18. The only thing that can be done is that if we contact the adoptive parents and they give their approval for a reunion. Our client would have been informed of this requirement in full.

Once the adoptive parents were located, they most likely were not in favor of the reunion. That is their decision and no one has a right to judge their decision no matter how mad it makes our client. At this point, we tell our clients to contact us after they turn 18 to 21 and we will be able then to disclose the information. We never received a call back.

It sounds like to me that the adoptee in this case does not get along with her adoptive family and now there appears to be a mutual bond between the birth mother and the adoptee created by the child having discord with her adoptive family. I come to this conclusion based upon what was said about the "Double Agent" and the heresay that the complaintant said regarding the child's statement toward her adoptive parents paying off Pat Rutherford. It appears that this birthmother has taken a great pleasure in seeing that the child now seems to prefer her over her adoptive family. But again, I can only go by what was stated in the complaint.

We're guilty of doing our job and doing the right thing. We will Never reunite a birthmother with her child when the child is under 18 without the adoptive parent's approval.

Likewise, if the birthmother exhibits behaviour that might be detrimental to the birth child and family such as anger toward the adoptive family and indications that the client is going to attempt to gain the adoptees attention over the adoptive family, we may be inclined to stop a reunion.

Also, anything that might be construed from what is said to us by the client that they are prepared to disrupt the family in any way, we have an obligation to halt any reunion. We not only have an obligation to protect our client, we have an obligation to protect everyone involved in the adoption and reunion.

I don't know anything about her finding her daughter, we never heard anything back even though she did have the option of contacting us once her birth child turned 18. We do have cases where we might strike out and our client might find them on their own. It happens. An adoption search is not a race to see who finds the person first. But this does not happen very often at all. We're good at what we do and have been for almost 30 years.

Finally, by the complaintant declaring that she is a legal assistant to lend credibility to her complaint may or may not need to be addressed, but I think that I will address it. We have a legal assistant that has worked for us since 1996. On top of that, we are licensed Private Investigators who are  regulated by the same agency that regulates Law Enforcement. We have an absolutely clean record.

There are No merits to this complaint from the very beginning where the complaintant does not disclose that fact that the adoptive parents must approve a reunion because the adopted child was not yet 18, to the description of my father as a "Double Agent".

I would be happy to speak to anyone about this subject. I also believe that making a statement that my father received "a large amount of money to not tell where the birthchild was" and that he is a "double agent working for the adoptive parents" is tantamount to slander. I believe that the "Legal Assistant in Dallas" is culpable toward a civil suit.

However, my father and I have Never filed suit against anyone and we have had many reasons to. We simply believe, in cases like this, that most people can see through the complaint and assess the type of person the complaintant is. It's a very sad situation frankly especially with the adoptive family cut out of the triad. I am thankful that the mass majority of our clients are more sensitive to all involved during an adoption search and reunion.
