In August 2009 we bought a used Volkswagen Jetta TDI engine from Lowmileageengines.com for $2,250.00. The engine arrived on September 3rd 2009, extensively damaged. The engine had not been strapped to the pallet it came on and had obviously been dropped! On the delivery receipt we noted "broken parts" and we took pictures of all the damage on the engine, as evidence.

Our only reliable vehicle (our VW Jetta) had broken down and we needed this "new/used" engine to get this car up and running as soon as possible. So as part of our effort to resolve this issue we obtained an estimate from our mechanic for the cost of repairing the damaged engine to a condition in which it would be useable, which would have cost us $2,446.70. We send copies of all our documents and pictures to Lowmileageengines.com, thinking this would result in a refund of our money or compensation for the damages on the engine.

After a couple of months of trying to resolve this issue with Lowmileageengines.com by calling them and sending them all the evidence, they eventually stopped returning our calls and ignored the issue completely. Meanwhile, we were stuck, had no reliable car and were depending on taking the bus (not easy, living in a rural area!) and rides from family and friends.

We had taken out a loan to buy this used engine and now had a shell of a car with the original broken-down engine and the broken engine sold to us by Lowmileageengines.com. We reached a point of frustration and had to spend some more money ($400) to get a lawyer to help us deal with this company. The lawyer send them a letter.

After the owner of LowMileageengines.com received the letter from our lawyer, asking them to comply with either refunding our money or compensate us for the damages to the engine and in addition compensating us for the attorneys' fees, he must have felt trouble coming and finally called us saying he would refund our money if we'd ship the engine back. He however refused to pay for the attorneys' fees!

The engine has been shipped back by us and we're waiting to see our money back. Until we get that back we cannot look for another engine.we dont have the funds to pay for another one. Nearly four months later, our car is still sitting at our mechanics garage, waiting for a GOOD used engine to be put in. "Thanks" LowMileageEngines.com for all the grief and hassle you gave us! We've been totally SCREWED by this company.

After our ordeal with this company we looked online and read other complaints about this company. Wow! We're not surprised.

If this is how the owner runs his business....We hope it will come to haunt him and goes bankrupt!

On its website, LowMileageEngines.com states: "we take our obligation to our customers very seriously, and work as hard as possible to ensure you get an excellent price, excellent delivery time, and an excellent product."

Obviously they spend more time in advertising BOGUS on their website, than they do actually helping their customers and dealing with issues. They have been one big NIGHTMARE for us!

We will warn anyone needing a used engine, to not do business with this company.

Attorney General Action

Take your issue to the Attorney General. They take these issues seriously. It is impossible to sell only low mileage engines. This is a total joke and people are miss-lead everyday!Carefully document your issues. If you look up this company and look at them on Google earth, they work from a strip center! This is a typical internet company trying to broker engines to make a buck. They buy junkyard motors and sell iron they know nothing about. This guy needs to be held accountable for telling consumers anything he wants to sell them an engine while hiding behind the BBB because they protect those who pay them. They hide reports and "arbitrate" for 1 reason, money. The Attorney General needs to stop companies selling only "low mileage" engine because they can't prove anything. Carfax does not know the history of an engine or transmission. Read the reports and see thru the Carfax scam these junkyards use to get your money!
