My husband and I stayed at Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort with our Wyndham timeshare points in January 2010. We were given the opportunity to trade interest at Bonnet Creek for Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort. It would entail another mortgage, so we declined. We have declined this offer before. Walt Dodge left, and returned with the information that our maintenance fees at Bonnet Creek were going up to $300 per month. We were in shock, to say the least, and Walt kept telling us we would only pay $350 per month if we did the trade, plus maintenance fees which could be covered by renting a unit a couple of times a year, which he would help us with. We only decided to sign the contract because we believed we were going to be paying $300 per month if we did nothing. This is what Walt Dodge told us. We later found out this was a LIE!
There was a problem with the electronic billing which Wyndham didn't notify us of for 3 months, all the while charging us penalties.
"Customer Care" is a JOKE! They would not help us deal with the fraud of their salesman Walt Dodge. They began calling us everyday, multiple times a day, demanding payment. I continually told them that the contract was made through fraud, but they kept saying, "You should have read the contract."
I was finally able to talk with Astrid Arizmindi, who continued with the Wyndham mantra: "You should have read the contract." The issue is a fraudulently obtained contract by a Wyndham salesman. She finally stated that there might be discipline at the sales site, but she could not discuss that with me as it was an internal matter. SO, apparently Wyndham approves of these fraudulent tactics to get sales. I asked Ms. Arizmindi if I could record our conversation, and she said no, but stated that Wyndham randomly records conversations and she could not tell me if our call was being recorded.
I previously tried to contact the sales manager at Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort (twice) to discuss Walt Dodge's lies, but he refused to speak with me.
Wyndham is ruining our credit, and refuses to void a fraudulently obtained contract. Walt Dodge has been publicly exposed for being a POW fraud, but Wyndham chooses to stand behind him.
We have no choice but to retain legal counsel, which we can't really afford. I have contacted my State Assembly office, and they are helping me file a complaint with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. I also plan to file a fraud complaint with the San Diego County District Attorney's office and the Better Business Bureau.

After filing a fraud complaint with the California State Attorney General, Wyndham contacted me with an apology and agreed to cancel the contract we had signed and return us to our previous level of ownership. I do appreciate this, but DO NOT appreciate the hell they put me through for one year. As far as I know the salesman who lied to us still works at Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort.
I would not recommend timeshare to anyone. Save for your vacations and choose where you want to go. If your husband demands to purchase, insist that he search the internet for people who regret timeshare purchase, because the accounts are legion. Dave Ramsey advises against timeshare purchase. They are NOT an investment and are almost impossible to sell. Timeshare points sell for pennies on the dollar. Don't be a SUCKER!
