Adam Samuel Littauer Owner of Black Tie Builders Lowered my hourly rate and changed the amount of hours I worked Longmont CO

Adam Samuel Littauer, owner of Black Tie Builders, is a very shady guy. Recently I did some roofing work for him on the house he lives in. Actually, his mother Shelly Harriot Littauer who Lives in California owns the house.  Per his request, I tore off his entire roof and provided materials for the underlayment.  During the day I tore off his roof he bragged to me about not paying a few of his subs. I thought that was a bit odd but I let it go considering it doesn't concern me. Little did I know Id be the next one. 

After he started changing the scope of the project, I decided because of liability to me an my company 1st Response Roofing, that I was no longer interested in working on the project. I submitted to him an invoice for the hours I worked and for the materials I provided.  A few weeks went by and he was no longer returning my phone calls, texts or emails. Finally he got back to me and we planned on meeting at his house. I showed up on my way to another project thinking he would be there to pay me. Nope, Adam wasn't there and wouldn't answer his phone.

I sat in my truck and waited 45 minutes for him.  While waiting, I made some phone calls to my clients. All of a sudden one of his subs started acting like an animal towards me. He starts yelling at me to leave asking me "don't you have anything better to do?" "don't you know you're trespassing?" All this while I'm waiting in my truck?  I met this guy briefly the day I worked there.  All I was doing was waiting for Adam so I could pick up my check. Whats the problem? I really thought he was joking at first. Then Adam calls him and he starts yelling into the phone " he's still here, he wont leave" A minute goes by and Adam calls me. At this point I knew there was a problem.

While on the phone with Adam, He gives me this big story about how he doesn't have any money or has his check book on him.(I have that conversation recorded) He then Asks if he can pay me via Paypal. I was fine with that. 2 days go by and he modifies my hours and hourly rate and shorts me via paypal. Since then hes been non responsive and never gave any explanation. He shorted me out of spite. On another note, If you're considering hiring him for a project, you may want to ask him why hes banned from shopping at home depot. Better yet, go to the pro desk at the boulder home depot and ask them for the story.

This guy is extremely shady, dishonest and manipulative. I cant speak on the quality of his workmanship but I can say this, hes got a history of not paying his subs.
