Thats nice i dont have overdraft protection with citizens bank and instead of declining my transaction bcs i didnt have enough money like there supposed to do they let it go through and made the account negative which is what overdraft protection does (that i never agreed to sign up for) how does a bank just do what they want against what i chose not to sign up for?
So basically the bank can choose whatever they want to do with my money...

Overdraft protection is set up with a secong account/ credit card/ etc so that if something comes against the account which would overdraft it the money is pulled from the second account to cover it. There's usually a fee but it's far less than an overdraft fee.
You're speaking of the account being able to pay into the negative. Most banks have an option for you to authorize this or to decline this. If you accept the bank can pay the item and charge you a fee. If you decline the bank will return the item unpaid, but the also incurs a fee equal to the overdraft fee. Additionally you'll probably get fees from whoevere you wrote the check to for it being returned. This will actually cost you more than the bank paying it.
Bottom line is you control the account. Kep a ledger and don't spend more than your avaialable balance and you won't have any fees.
And no, I don't work for the bank.

Don’t Post On a Public Website

If you just can’t stand the possibility of someone obviously pointing out the errors of your ways, then don’t post on a public website! FACT: Every overdraft can be avoided by keeping written records of card usage and maintaining an on-going running balance! FACT: Our parents and people of that generation NEVER had the problems of overdrafts because they had the COMMON SENSE to manage their accounts!
FACT: YOU, from this point on can never, ever again pay an overdraft fee by keeping the above mentioned written records just like those who know how to manage a checking account do!

Poor You

You have a checking account and YOU DO NOT KEEP WRITTEN RECORDS of its usage and YOU DO NOT KEEP an on-going running balance so that you would know how much to spend. Instead, you just keep using the card when you have ZERO CLUE as to what the balance is. When you bounce debits...you come here to blame the bank when IT IS YOUR FAULT ALL ALONG! Learn how to manage a checking account!
