EyeGlass World ripoff A web site produced many complaints similiar to mine - Don't trust them to deliver Leesburg Florida

I needed to find a fast replacement for my glasses that had been destroyed in an accident so I choose EyeGlass World because I was read the advertisement of 1 hour service and also saw an ad w/coupon for buy 1 get 1 free, (and a disclaimer that I could cancel order withinn 72 hours)which was in my hand upon arrival. I ordered 2 pair of glasses, paid by check $343. The magager "Hanna Kim" said she would call tomorrow when I glasses were ready. The next day a lady in my office took a message from Hanna that it would be 7-10 days for my glasses(I can get glasses anywhere in 7-10 days)I immediately called Hanna and told her to cancel my order and she said since I did not have the sale ad with the disclaimer in my hand (it was in my purse at that time)it did not apply to my situation. After several phone calls, Hanna said she would deliver my glasses on the following day and I said fine. Then Hanna called me back and said she did not feel she should have to go out of her way to deliver them and after all my eyeglass perscritpion was not that bad. I said if they were not delivered I did not want them and she said she would make them anyways. We played phone tag and on the day they were to be delivered. I called again to stress that I had stopped payment on my check and not to make the glasses. She said that TeleCheck would come after me for stopping payment on the check and she was having the glasses made anyways. I told her she and Eyeglass World would be hearing from my attorney. After having this problem, A web site produced many complaints similiar to mine, so I am not alone. Brenda Mascotte, Florida

If EyeGlass World is so wonderful why have EGW been on the news numerous times for consumer complaints(fraud)

I read the rebuttal reagarding the EyeGlass World person from Maine.....Maybe the EGW in Maine are different than Florida....If EyeGlass World is so wonderful why have EGW been on the news numerous times for consumer complaints(fraud) and why is there so many customers out there whom have also had problems similiar to mine. I finally received my glasses long after the promised time and they have already had to be fixed several times, this is after paying $343 for the glasses!! I have also talked to over 30 people who have had nothing but problems from EyeGlass World !! I'm glad to see there is at least 1 happy customer out there!!!

Inside Info on Eyeglass World---AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Hopefully all consumers will take this information and use it for their benefit. I am an optometrist who provided care at Eyeglass World and I'm here to tell you there is nothing ethical about this company. The company has printed phone sheets which quotes patients a "low price" but when they come into the store they will not receive that price. The employees are trained with many different "excuses" for the price increase. Furthermore, the buy one get one free is ridiculous. The company is really charging you the price for two pair in the price of the first pair and then telling the customer that they get the second pair free. The company is selling discontinued and defective frames as well as using poor quality or "second rate" lens materials and telling customers they are comparable to name brand quality lenses. You can get a refund from this company but you will have to go through a lot of red tape, frustration and phone calls. The company does not list prices on their frames but their is a way for patients to know the frame price. If you look at the tag on the frame it has a bar code on it that you can decipher the price from. For example the bar code will have a number like 699099159, the patient can decipher the price by realizing the first price they quote you will be the first three numbers with the first number being replaced by a one or two so in the above example the 699 is equal to $199. If you tell the sales person that is too much they then will quote you a price based on the last three numbers of the bar code $159, if you complain more about the price the employee will then "act" like they talk to their manager and then quote you a price of $99 or the middle three numbers on the bar code. This company also has a "no walk" policy which means they don't want to lose a customer due to price, so if you make a large enough fuss over price and threaten to take business elsewhere they will drop the frame price to as low as $59. However, be careful because they will try to make up the price when they charge you for lenses so always negotiate on the final price and always, always, always threaten to take your business elsewhere because of the price. Many times if you try hard enough you can get two frames for as little as $89 and that's really about how much the poor quality glasses are worth at Eyeglass World. Never, never, never buy the extended warranty at Eyeglass World as several offices have went out of business and these warranties are useless. Furthermore, most times the employee will give you this warranty for free if you refuse it because they lose commission if they don't have enough warranties to fill their monthly quota. The company does try to force doctors to sell customers glasses or contacts even if they don't need them--i.e. the patient's prescription hasn't changed. They also pressure doctors to rush through exams and get patients in and out (they even reward doctors in their contracts for seeing more patients per day). Any patient getting an exam there should make sure that the prescription is done on each eye, that the eye health is checked with a slit lamp, and that the cornea is measured before contact lenses are fit on the eyes. Also it would be a good idea if the doctor where to show you the new prescription compared to the old prescription, if the difference is minimal do not be pressured into buying new glasses. The best tip I can give is if you have a problem go right to the top. Discuss with the store manager, then the area manager, regional manager. If you have not received satisfaction I would then contact the national sale manager Kris Schrage 1-800-584-4150 ext. 2009, cell phone (561) 801-6354, home phone (317) 859-9046. Next contact CEO Max Musa 1-800-584-4150 ext. 2006, office (561) 965-9110 ext. 2006, cell phone (561) 301-0454. This company is corrupt and has to be stopped, it's also a great idea to contact both your state's board of optometry and attorney general. These are the organizations that can impose fines against Eyeglass World and basically make their lives miserable. I hope this helps and stops people from losing their hard earned money at Eyeglass World.

EyeGlass World also uses tatics that makes their deceipt non-traceable

EyeGlass World also uses tatics that makes their deceipt non-traceable by not leaving voice mail messages, e-mail address is non working and inaccessable fax number and the manager claims to know the "Florida Law". Therefore, by making themselves inaccessable it was harder to prove that I cancelled my order, which is permissable by Florida State Law. The message that was left with my co-worker was that my glasses would be ready "shortly" and when I called later the day they were promised, I was then told it would be 7-10 days. Thanks for this great site!!
