Went to have a tooth looked at and they claimed it would need a crown to bring $1,500.00 and insurance would cover the rest after the work was done a bill showed up for another $800.00 . I refused to pay and they sent to collection so I was forced to pay so it did not effect my credit . They knew for a fact the insurance would not cover the rest . They lie from the beginning.

They tell us what the insurance company should pay at the time of service and what to bring in cash on the day Period the end of story It’s very misleading If you call corporate in PA they will tell you they have had similar issues .

We don’t need your help in filing a claim . The point is ….no one would pay your crazy high prices unless you did it the way you are doing it and it’s very misleading to the customer . You need to collect the money and give us the true honest cost, your office in PA also said they have had similar situations and complaints so change the way your doing this

Insurance

Dentists file claims on your behalf for your convenience. It's your insurance and you can definitely file a claim with them yourself. Dental insurance that you can buy on the open market definitely won't cover crowns, for obvious reasons (you could get the work done and then cancel the plan the next month). Dental offices usually are familiar with employer group insurance plans, individual plans have a lot more limitations. They can't tell if an insurance company will cover a claim ahead of time. There are hundreds of different insurance plans offered by any given company. You need to be at least minimally familiar with your policy.

They look in a computer and tell you what the insurance company will pay

They need to let us pay in full then file a claim with the insurance company instead of us believing them if they truly are not sure what the insurance company will pay . It’s very misleading . If you truly don’t know then stay out of it .we should be able to pay out of pocket then file a claim ourselves .

Listen , I had no insurance at first , I was cash , they told me to buy the insurance and gave me 3 companies to look at . I purchased dental insurance and paid another $100.00 for a one year plan for cleaning and rescheduled 6 months out so the insurance would cover it . Dah , was not my idea was Refresh Dentals .

YOUR insurance

Pray tell, how are they going to know what YOUR insurance plan will and will not cover? Being familiar with your plan is your responsibility. If you had questions, you could have called the insurance company and requested a pre-authorization. Most insurance plans cover 30-50% of major dental work like crowns, but obviously every plan and every insurance company is different. Insurance companies deny valid claims all the time. You would have gotten an EOB from them explaining why the claim was denied and giving you options to appeal it. The money is owed to the dentist regardless of what the insurance company decides.
