Swanson vitamins and supplements Swanson vitamins and supplments Failed to provide a straight answer to my question of "Are the ingredients of any of the products we have been purchasing for 20 years sourced in China?" Fargo North Dakota
*Consumer Comment: They May Not Know
My wife and I have been purchasing Swanson vitamins and supplements for 20 years. We will not knowingly ingest food products from China.
We asked Swanson if the ingredients in any of the products we have been purchasing from them are sourced in China and did not receive an honest answer so we will no longer purchase from them.

They May Not Know
AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

It is possible they may not have any idea. Vitamin companies as an industry buy their ingredients from contractors either in the US, or elsewhere. Now, the contractors may or may not have procured their items from Chinese sources, however there would be no way the vitamin company would necessarily know for a number of reasons.
It may even possible the individual contractor may not know, but they should. So long as the Vitamin company's product ingredients meet established standards and specifications - then that's all that's important to the company.
I understand your concern. However, I would caution you about the idea that there may be no vitamin company that can give you a straight answer to your question. I'm not telling you that you should go back to the company you've been taking vitamins from for 20 years either. What I'm saying is that if you need to take the vitamins to supplement your overall diet, it may be something you have to live with, regardless of where the vitamin comes from. If your diet is good enough, then you may not need a vitamin to begin with. Good luck to you....
