Trojan Battery One of 24 Batteries was defective and they wouldn't replace it. Santa Fe Springs California

*General Comment: After a FEW years???
I bought 24 L16 Solar Batteries from them.
After a few years one of the batteries failed.
All the batteries were treated exactly the same.
Trojan Battery would not replace the defective battery.
Their quality has obviously gone WAY down hill.

Warranties for batteries are generally prorated. If the battery lasted 90% of its expected lifespan, they would credit you 10% of the cost of a new battery. Free replacement is generally only for the first few months to a year.

If a battery outlasted its warranty period, it is not a defective battery, and there is no reason for a manufacturer to replace it for free. And obviously any manufactured product is going to have some variability unit to unit. Just because one battery failed first doesn't mean something is wrong with it. What do you expect, all 24 batteries will fail simultaneously? That is statistically impossible. And the way batteries work in a series string, the weakest battery will be damaged the first time the string is over-discharged. It will then keep getting overcharged, which will quickly cause it to fail.
