Vitesse Moving and Transfer Inc. RIP OFF/Scammed/ Unusual rude customer service by owner Chicago Illinois

A friend referred me to this company and advised me they were fast with their process. I contacted this company on 7/13 to provide services to move me from 2 bedroom apartment to 1 bedroom apartment within a 2 mile radius from each other. I accepted a quote of 80.00 per hour with the understanding that this would only take 2 hours at the most. I put down a deposit of 50.00 on a credit card to secure the appointment. I provided them with all my inventory to be moved as only 1 bedroom of things were being moved and 1 closet of clothes and shoes in the 2nd bedroom. I had patio furniture and a treadmill which I included in the inventory overview. 

There were 2 movers assigned to the job. When they arrived and began moving some of my things, I was told the truck they were assigned was too small to fit all my things in. This was extremely upsetting because I gave Melissa a clear overview of things I had. The movers left 3 closet full of clothes, 2 full big boxes of cookware, another large pale full of glasses, patio chairs and table which I had to transport in my own vehicle.

They took, several breaks talking and answering phone calls during the entire job. One mover ask to use the washroom and took 10-15 minutes before returning back to his duty. The movers were extremely slow and standing around as though they were trying to collect more money than needed for this job. After 5 hours I called into the office to speak with a manager. I spoke to a Carol who advised me there was nothing she could do but would have someone call me on Monday.

After arriving to my new residence, one of the movers handed me his phone. I asked for the caller's identity and he explained his name was Stan and he was the owner. I went on to explain how poorly and slow his guys were and to give me a discount. Stan (owner) completely started yelling and screaming at me regarding his movers and that they were nice guys. Stan went on to threaten that he would stop the job and leave my personal things and furniture on the ground in front of my new place if I didn't pay his guys $560.00.

I felt very uncomfortable and forced into paying these guys for work they weren't doing. This was absolutely a scam, rip off and I was totally insulted by the conversation with the owner who promised he wouldn't argue with me and would leave my things. The movers never took that time off of talking to the owner and going to the bank to get more money. They charged me for time not worked and I was very upset that the owner would conduct his business using scare tactics toward a consumer who invested in using his services. The conversation was unproductive and escalated. I paid the movers in cash of 560.00 so my things wouldn't be left on the sidewalk.

During this entire move I provided the movers with water as it was a hot day. After handing the movers 560.00 I asked for a receipt and was promised to be given a receipt after the job was finished.  I was never given a receipt. The result is that these men took 8.5 hours to move me from a 2 mile radius. The owner had the nerve to quote me a remaining 250.00 and I advised him I will only give him a 150.00.  My friend who used this company moved her from a 4 bedroom home and the job took only 3 hours to a storage unit and from the storage unit to another home it took them only 3 hours, totaling 6 hrs.

These men took 8.5 hours to move me from a 2 bedroom apt which I didn’t require them to move anything other than clothes and shoes in the 2nd bedroom. This company practices were totally unprofessional and a complete ripped off. After this horrible experience, I check with 2 other companies and was told that distance and inventory should have only took 2-3 hours at the most. I’ve only got a bunch of excuses from Vitesse and no accountability.

Lastly, I spoke to Melissa regarding a refund. She provided nothing but excuses for the owner's behavior and the poor service of the movers. She advised my friend called in and told them I didn't have the money to pay the movers; which upset the owner. This claim was one of many inaccurate claims by this company; however instead of calling me to discuss payment options, the owner screamed and made threats to leave my furniture abandoned.  No apology was extended from the owner. I was told that I had a slower crew than my friend had when they moved her from a 4 bedroom home (Taking only 6 hours).

My impression was to not expect good service across the board, it strictly depend on the crew they assign representing the company. I simply received excuses and was only offered 100.00 after paying them 710.00 plus a 50.00 down payment for services they didn't provide. It took me a over a week to move everything from my unit of things they left behind. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and other agencies asking for a total of 300.00 back for my time, gas and horrible experience and anxiety dealing with this so called moving company.
