- Yea that is what happens when you FAIL to pay your debts.  If you want a better life, then work on paying your bad debts,  pay cash for everything.  If you don't have enough money to pay for something...find another job or work on getting a better paying job.

You seem to be suffering from the same Entitlement Sub-Prime attitude that affects many who refuse to take responsibility. A "Charge Off" removes it from the companies books as bad debt, but it does not mean you no longer owe the debt. The banks are actually required to do this per banking regulations, so the only thing the CFPB and FDIC will do is say...TOUGH LUCK..next time pay your bills. They may be a bit nicer in their delivery, but that is really what they mean.

The company is of course not actively reporting it because they have said they basically gave up. But the "Charge Off" can legally remain on your credit report for 7 years, and if you are still within the Statute of Limitations for your state they can still file a suit against you. If you lose(and you will) again depending on the state they can possibly garnish your wages and/or attach your bank accounts.

Good Luck
