Ripoff: overpriced service; unnecessary repair; mishandling of parts; Playing fear factor; Arrogant customer service  

On 6/28, One Clear Choice Garage Doors sent a technician to replace the torsion springs of my garage door for $351.16. I found this was a ripoff with some of their charges and not satisfied with problems with their service.

Overpriced service: 
in additional to labor charge of $150, for two sets of drums and cables (retail price of $14 for both) I was charged $110; and two collars for $50 which is outrage.

Unnecessary repair: 
one of the two sets of drums and cables did not need to be replaced, and general manager Vince later acknowledged it, but got replaced just because"we sell them in pairs"; to me the collars are useless.

mishandling of parts: 
Springs were all mixed together in the truck with no case. I could not tell whether or not the ones installed for me were new or not. Springs were thrown to the ground carelessly which could cause damages to the springs that would shorten the lifespan of the springs down the road. 

Playing fear factor - Technician told me not to mess with the spring, and somebody got injured 7 places in the arm for doing it themselves which is a typical story they tell to scare customer. 

Arrogant customer service: 
in communicating my concerns to the general manager Vince of the firm, his response was that he's glad that he's got my signature on the paperwork and "good luck to you" in trying to solve the problem through other channels.    

Vince did try to frame me to sign a contract which says I agree NOT to involve any 3rd party in addressing this dispute, and only to work with them however they were not promising anything. It also says on the form that it might take them 30 days to respond. I had to disagree with that. From that point on, he did not reply to my email, nor did he respond after I left him message through their receptionist. 

I tried to resolve the issue through BBB. In their response to BBB, they were referring to "facts" that have never happened. They were either just ignorant, or they were making things up afterwards based on what they imagine might have happened. 

Vince's response to me was that they are a service company not a retail store. It seems to him, that would justify any ripoff as long as it's tagged as a so-called "service."

What I'd recommend to future consumers is:
1. don't work with this firm.
2. do your homework on pricing before signing on any paperwork.
3. never trust these guys as they claim they are honest and good, as they are not.
