I spoke with a lady named Bridget over the phone who booked an appointment for my husband and I for this past Thursday, June 16 at 6pm. We arrived at approximately 5:40pm.

There was a lady who I believed was the Ultrasound Technician since she popped her head out of the door wearing latex gloves and told us that she was running behind schedule. She suggested that we go down to the cafe while we waited. I asked her how long it would take and she told me that she would be ready about 6:30pm, I looked at my watch and she then told me 6:15 to 6:30 pm. She also told me that we were welcome to stay if we didn't want to go downstairs.

So my husband, mother-in-law and I settled down on the couch to wait for our appointment. Another couple arrived at exactly 6pm and sat down as well. We started conversation and found out that each other's appointments were scheduled for the same exact time. The couple explained that they had an appointment the previous day but called in to reschedule. They even commented, I wonder if there are two of them that do this? If not, then someone had double booked us.

The technician came back out and was ready to take us until she found that both parties were scheduled at the same time. She asked if we could come back at 7pm but when I told her that we traveled a long way for the appointment. She then asked how many weeks I was, which I found to be irrelevant to the situation. She suggested that I come back in two weeks. I told her that I didn't want to come back. When I called to set the appointment, I was asked how many weeks I was and there was no problem at that time.

She gave me no option but to come back at 7pm. The technician did not bother to ask the other couple if they would like to reschedule even though they arrived 20 minutes after us. Nor did she suggest that they wait in the order of arrival.

The ultrasound technician was Caucasian and so was the other couple. So why would she not ask the other couple the same question? Why didn't she ask the other couple if they would mind to reschedule since they already did yesterday.

My husband and I are a minority couple. He is a Paramedic and I am an HR Manager. We are very customer oriented people dealing with the public day in and day out.

We are also extremely familiar with the Department of Consumer Affairs and know our rights on how we were discriminated upon as consumers by this facility. On a daily basis, we both drive to maximize results while also demonstrating respect for other people and we expect the same.

We decided that since this facility lacked the professionalism and fair treatment this place does not deserve to have our business and we will let others know not to patronize your facility in the future.
