I was happy with 8x8 technology. But when my business needs changed I found it almost impossible to change or cancel unneeded services. I discovered somewhere in their fine print they auto-renew with a 1-year contract term without notifying you. They don't contact you prior to renewal date. There are only a limited number of days in the month prior to the contract end date that customers can cancel and you must contact them during those few days. Otherwise the contract renews for another 12 months even though equipment is paid for and you did not authorize it except I guess in the fine print of the original contract - which of course they do not mention or explain when signing you up.

Most companies you go month-to-month after completing the original term. Not 8x8. They auto renew locking you in for 12 months minimum. Worse they increase your price during contract period. So they lock you in but they don't lock in pricing and increase it at will. So you are paying more than agreed without notice and you can't do anything about it because if you want to cancel they charge a cancellation fee equal to remaining term at the higher rate they increased you to. I have seen other companies that auto-renew and lock you in for a year but not that also increase your cost after auto renewal date and lock you into the higher amount or charge you the increased amount by remaining term as a termination fee. It may be legal but it isn't ethical.

I am not sure it is even legal to change any part of the contract during the term but they do. When you ask to be cancelled when the current contract ends and want that in writing you are told you have to call back between specific dates. If they fail to call you back during the time period it auto renews again locking you into another 12 months. So they make it almost impossible to leave them once you do business with them.
