ABC Distribution Lies to force an angry, high pressured salesman in your home in Kennesaw, Georgia

I received a bright orange postcard sized notice in the mail from ABC Distribution that stated that they have been trying to reach me to deliver a package they were holding for me and to call.  Thinking a family member or my employer was shipping something I decided to call.

While on the phone I spoke with Ms. Spencer and gave her the reference # provided and was told that the package was actually a $50.00 restaurant gift card for me if I would allow a water sample collection team to come to my home and simply take some water samples from my tap water to be used as data collection for the Water Quality Association.  When I asked why this was necessary, she said that EPA hasn't set new water quality standards since the 1990's even though they were required to every 5 years by law and that they were gathering data to use to convince the EPA that new standards were desperately needed.  She went on to say that for troubling us and allowing the reps to take water samples from our home that they would give us the $50 gift card to eat at a restaurant.

At this point my spidey senses started to tingle and I smelled a salespitch in this so I very specifically asked point blank and directly "Ok so these reps are not selling anything right? They are simply here to collect water samples and leave?"  Ms. Spencer replied "Absolutely right, they CANNOT sell you anything they can simply make a casual recommendation about your water based on their in-home testing and they are only their to take samples of your tap water for use as data collection".  So with her assurance I agreed to set up a time for them to come by my home. (So we are already into Lie #1 from the company)

The rep from the company arrives and immediately walks to the kitchen with a jumbled case of dirty equipment thrown into an old briefcase.  No sterile containers just beakers, test tubes and unmarked "mystery" chemicals in a grime filled suitcase all just thrown in there as a shadetree mechanic piles tools into a tool box.  He immediately opens it up and starts explaining that he's going to show us just how nasty our water is and proceeds with setting up these completely unscientific tests.  He mixes some water from the tap in one beaker and then connects a portable filtration system to the tap and fills another beaker with the "filtered" water and does all manner of "tests" adding this chemical and that to the two samples and claiming well if it's blue it's great if it's red it's horrible and you can all die from cancer by drinking the chemicals in this water making it turn red.

This guy goes on and on like this performing these ridiculous stunts he claims are "tests" which are outrageously unscientific.  I myself am a degreed engineer and understand quite well what manner one must conduct scientific tests in and this had no elements of control. It was all smoke and mirrors.

Finally he gets to it...because he likes us so much and because he cares about the safety and health of our family then he is going to do something that's going to get him in big trouble but he's just that kind of great guy.  He pulls out this Mickey Mouse looking contract and tells me that my family can start experiencing whole home clean purified nothing but H2O water once we install the GE Avantapure system for a low price of over $7,000 plus another $1,000+ in installation fees, taxes etc.  But wait!!!  It's close to Christmas and he's gone out of his mind so he starts marking through all those numbers on the contract and changes them to $5,999 and tells me I can pay $119/mo for clean purified water.

The filthy lies have piled up so high at this point that I wanted to sling his fanny right out of the house.  So then he proceeds to tell me that he'll even throw in a 5yr supply of "pure" soap to use at no extra charge.  Really???wow!!  So now I said "This is just a water softener system right?  Would you provide me with a full list of all the chemicals that could be in my water that this system removes so I can be sure it's providing me PURE H2O and nothing else"  He stumbles and stammers and says he'll have the scientist call me to answer those questions.

Finally I told him that I was really put off by the fact that ABC Distribution LIED to me to get the salesman in my house, and that he tried to play me for some type of an idiot that would spend $6000 for a $1900 water softener?

Do you know what this clown had the audacity and nerve to do at this point?  He hand wrote on the bottom of the Mickey Mouse contract he tried to get me to sign the following phrase " I do not want my family to have safe clean water at this time" and then drew a line and made an X and said I need your signature right here!  What a set of marbles this guy had to try and pull this off?

I told them we were done, that I am not buying this and they left my house after 2hrs of wasting my time and they NEVER offered to give me the $50.00 gift card to a restaurant that I was promised.

This company is nothing more than a VERY high pressured, bully-style, slick trick and fast talk gimmick sales company.  They lie more than they tell the truth and they will say and do whatever they please to get you to spend outrageous sums of money on products that you can buy for 1/3 of their prices.

I am writing this to warn other consumers....do NOT fall for this scam from this disreputable and reprehensible company.
