   I signed up for Gold's Gym in Ocotober. I loved the facility, and was happy to finally sign up for a gym membership. The representative I signed up with made it sound very easy to cancel. He said that I had an 'open membership, and I could "Cancel at anytime."

   The same day I signed up, after working out I had to be rushed to the emergency room. I was 4 weeks pregnant, and the workout was too much for my body to handle. I was not aware that working out there would land me in the ER. Days later, I spoke with an OBGYN who told me not to use the gym anymore while pregnant. I went up to my local gym, and told them I wanted to cancel. The girl working the counter knew what had happened, and said that cancelling was understandable. She gave me a form which I filled out and sent in. I went ahead and paid for November, though I knew I would not be going to the gym, because she told me the cancellation processing period was 30 days.

I did not dispute this, and paid. In December I started receiving phone calls stating I was past due for December. Since my cancellation request was sent well before 30 days before my monthly due day in December, I called ABC financial. I was told that there was no record of me ending in a cancellation form. The representative was very nice, but told me there was nothing she could do about the fact that there was no record of it in the computer. She asked me to send another. At this point, I sent a handwritten letter intead of the form, because I thought maybe they wanted a handwritten letter instead. In December, I was told there was a 'note in my file' stating that I could email/fax a copy of my cancellation letter if I again had this problem.

    It is now January. After sending two letters, I got a letter in the mail today stating that I owe for the month of December, January, and a 'Yearly Fee.' I called and spoke with Tiffany. She told me that no letter had been received. I told her I will send yet ANOTHER this time by certified mail. My husband told me this was a scam a month ago, but I didn't believe him. Now I do. I told Tiffany that I would be sending an email and faxed copy as well, because the last representative said that she spoke with her supervisor, who told her that if I had the problem again tht I could email and fax copies;

she said there was a note in my file stating that though they typically do not reeive faxes or emails for cancellations, they would make an exception. Tiffany told me that I could not send either. At this point, I was very frustrated. I asked her to check the note in my file. She wouldn't even look. She told me that they were not accepted. I told her the supervisor made an exception, and just to please check. She would not.

   This financial group is scamming people out of money. After doing some online research I realize the problem I am having with them is very common. So common, that I can not believe nothing has been done about this. I will be sending a certified copy tomorrow. I know that this company knows it is leeching off of people. I will have to pay for the month of February as well, said Tiffany. So, I will owe 3 months, late fees, and a yearly club charge, all for a gym I could not use. This, is a ripoff.
