I placed an online ad looking for a local HVAC professional to mount my heat pump to the side of my house. I always prefer to give my money to local small business and so when Above All HVAC & Sheetmetal responded I was happy to have them out to give me an estimate. in addition to giving me a reasonable estimate he also made a brand suggestions when I asked about his knowledge or whole-house air cleaners. He suggested an April Aire and said he had installed many. I did my research and ended up ordering one after receiving a quote for an install as well.
When the unit arrived I called him repeatedly for over 2-weeks. He finally came out to take measurements for duct work and said he would come back the next week to take care of the install. Over a month later, he finally got around to sending someone else out because he was "so busy" as he put it on a phone call. The guy he sent was at my house from 12pm (4 hours late) until 2am. During this 14 hour marathon of idiocy, Rusty's accomplice managed to melt a piece of PVC into my hot water heater destroying it and when he, I had only a partially installed air cleaner. After some quick research the next day it came to surface that the person who he sent was not licensed or insured. I called Rusty and told him the situation. He apologized profusely and assured me that they would purchase me a new hot water heater and that he would personally finish the job that he had been contracted to do. This was nearly three months ago and after countless calls, emails and VMs I had to eat the cost of a water heater and still have an uninstalled air cleaner and a heat pump that has not been mounted.
The primary method of this person and his company's marketing is via Craigslist posts. I cannot warn anyone who considers doing business with this person enough to stay away. I also had my friends in the law enforcement community run the guys info and it was in line with my expectations. Everyone deserves a second chance but even if he called tomorrow to get everything squared away, I would have trouble not pursuing this legally as I have already begun to do. If anyone else has had an experience like this with Above All HVAC & Sheetmetal, please feel free to reach out and join my lawsuit and complaints to governing professional agencies int he state of Virginia.

After reading this report about Rusty and his company we were VERY skeptical about using him. He was the lowest on estimates for the replacement of our 4 ton heat pump and we had been recently taken by someone else off of craigslist that totally demolished our heat pump while replacing the compressor and left it in such an awful state, it could not be repaired.
Rusty gave us a quote and a date to replace the existing heat pump (outside unit only). He and his wife Paula showed up on the date of installation on time with a brand new unit ready to work. He completed the job in a few hours but ran low on R22 and it was late. We called him the next morning and advised him that it was hotter inside the house than outside and he stated that with it being Memorial Day weekend, he was having a hard time locating another can of refrigerant. Later that evening, he called back stating he located the required R22 and would be out before lunch on Sunday.
Rusty has completely finished the job in a professional manner. He has returned all of our phone calls and addressed all of our issues in a timely manner. He understood our skepticism and was happy that we gave him the opportunity to do the work.
We have given them permission to use us as references and will refer all of our friends to him. He is now the one we will call for any of our HVAC needs!
Thank you so much Rusty & Paula! Our family is now in an air conditioned home after 2 months without!
