I am a very unhappy shopper ! ABT Electronics has mistreated me for the last time !


I buy alot of electronics and ABT has always been one of my favorite stores to shop at and support. I have seen them grow into a true mega store over the last 25 years and was happy for them, But I think they need to go back to basics and remember how they got where they are.


My recent purchases have been nothing but trouble such as rude unfriendly sales people that have little to no clue about what they are selling and only care about there commission. I won't get into all that but focus more on just my one bad LAST experience.


Will AKA (Bill) in the Audio Video Department helped me with a $3,500 Home stereo purchase almost a year ago that I was very happy with. I recently wanted to add a CD Player to the package and ran into him again. I purchased the CD Player and he suggested to me to upgrade my speakers to a newer model same brand. I am all ears and after about 1 hour of him letting me listen to them and explaining whats better about them I did decide to purchase them and it cost another $2,000.


I was excited to get everything hooked up and hear them but was let down to find out that these speakers Kept overheating my reciever and it kept shutting down. That never happened before I double triple checked all the wires and called the tech support line of my reciever to verify I was doing everything properly and after hours of confirming all settings where correct, And even moving my 60 pound reciever to a different location with more airflow same thing kept happening. I then hooked up an extra set of speakers that I have and of course the reciever worked fine no shutting down so I was sure speakers where bad or not Compatible with my reciever that he sold me. I returned to store and talked to there tech support who was helpfull but had no clue what was wrong so I exchange those speakers for a different set/brand with a different salesperson because Bill was on vacation.


After unpacking these new speakers they did work and didn't overheat my reciever but they just where to big for my room so I decided I was going to return these $1,500 dollar speakers because I wasn't 100 percent happy with them and just keep the rest. I saved the box and all contents packed them up like new and had my friend take them back for me because he has a truck and I was busy at work.


This is where things took bad turn..


As of today this was taken directly off there web site under return policy and privacy policy.


"Total Satisfaction Guaranteed
You can return an item within the first 30 days* from the shipping date. We'll gladly exchange it or give you a refund for the full amount of the merchandise-whichever you prefer. All returned or exchanged items must be in their original box and include packing material, manuals, and all accessories"


I was very upset to find out There new policy is when you return something there IS NOT a "no questions asked return policy" ! They call your salesperson as you wait like a dog and have him come there and get in your face about "why are you returning your item ?" Even if you are within your return period. Its your money and you buy there products under the assumption that they will Gladly exchange or refund you in full under there pretend "Total Satisfaction Guarantee" if you decide to return or exchange for any reason.


Bill in audio video department told my friend that I was not allowed to return anything to them anymore after this return and I was very close to not being able to buy anything from them ????? Then he Told my friend my personal purchase history about what I spent there which was very unprofessional and upset me. Hey Bill or Will whatever you prefer to be called. Don't worry I will never step foot into your store again ever. I mean The owners store again ! Or refer anyone to ABT ever again instead just tell everyone about how I was mistreated and how unprofessional you are.


Also My other major purchase there few months ago for $3,500 in appliances was found over $400.00 cheaper at best buy and I had to argue with Randy the Manager to get them to Price Match Best Buy ???


I am so done with ABT !


There are better stores out there with better prices and customer service.

They are changing as America has and is changing for the worst and dowfall

I also have bought whatever they sell the last 25 years furnace, water heater, theatre Chairs 4 TV,2 Frig,2 Microwaves,3 Beds, a Stereo,2 Stoves, a Speaker, and many others

.I don't even check pricing. Delivery is always great sales except for one 10 years ago in AC and one last week TV. My family tells me I should retire from my business and get a job there.I have to say they are not scammers and every salesman there has always been knowledgeable. Over the last 2 years have noticed an expansion of employees so much many times you will see 3 to 6 huddled laughing vs selling. Seems a common theme all in their 20s maybe early 30s I have noticed because of my position hiring/training over 2,200 people. Last week a young guy was pushing me so much after telling him I did not want to deal with him. (was an A   S)was getting to the point where I was ready to raise my voice so anyone with 50 feet would hear. Another stepped in and had to tell him to back off. I did by the TV from the guy that stepped in. Was closing at 6 pm.Went to the center location to pay. I gain 10 lbs every time I go nice touch candy(lol). I laid my 52.00 calf skin gloves to get candy and didn't realize till I

left called back but closed the LMTC figure the next day CB(Strike 1)at the end of the day sent another email on their system c/o customer service(Strike 2)next day did another on their site this time trying different angel Corporate Sales(Strike 3)next day interesting a Spanish guy fairly good English called said I understand you have questions on a Samsung TV (???)I told him of my gloves which I'm sure someone had taken by now. (Strike 4)Said he was contacting Security and would call back. (Strike 5). Finally accepted the truth. I would only waste my time for 6,7 8 etc. No one is watching the Hen House floor or contact forms on their site. Noticed now their ads seem to be going in the PC Movement 20% affecting 80%.They hired too many people who are changing their course from standing around to dropping the ball. The TV came wrapped up in some sort of white packing vs box. They also had maybe 6 standing around in the pickup they seemed to say security. While walking out a kid maybe 21- nice touch carried it out. I was bragging about ABT and seems so many 20-22 years with great pay/benefits. Was surprised when he said yeah he was going to stay there another month or two. I even still tried to encourage him to stay for the future. Maybe he is the smarter one.

Price is whatever they want it to be

I don't want to get into it about the speakers since I wasn't there for that particualr issue. However, your last comment about ABT ripping you off on some appliance pricing is rediculous. ABT is allowed to charge whatever they want to for their products and you're allowed to buy them at that price or find a better deal elsewhere. Don't start crying about price after you agreed to a price at ABT before doing your homework.

They Say "NO" to reasonable request

Jon,

I see you care about you business because you replied, But I highly suggest that you get your sales people some training and fire the ones that lack motivation to smile and help your customers understand what they are really buying so they are not oversold or undersold. I am sure you returns will go down quite a bit.

I am glad you think its ok that you can sell products that don't work and by your customers returning them for store credit or there money back that is taking advantage of your return policy.

I don't recall you at the counter Jon when I was returning any of the products that cleary didn't work as they should like the $2,000.00 watch I couldnt wear for almost a month because no one could size it for me at your watch store but just turned out they where to lazy to, And what about that fancy $1,000 canon camera that had green glue all over the inside lens from the factory, Or how about those speakers that never worked right. I guess I should of kept them all ? Are you for real ?

You will try to meet or beat someone elses prices ?  I guess that a good way out to overcharge people and get away with it. "What a joke" maybe you should make your policies more clear Jon.

I have better things to do Jon then post reviews online actually this was my first. I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't so upset with your store and shocked how you guys changed. I will never buy anything from ABT again or send friends or family there.

At Abt the company motto is the answer is always yes to any reasonable request. Its a standard our employees are held to every day and a big reason we believe our customers keep coming back. Our return policy allows for any product to be returned within the first 30 days from the shipping date if the product is in its original box with all the packing materials, manuals and accessories. We also have a price matching policy that states we will try to meet or beat any documented price offered by any other authorized retailer.

We know these policies are critical to providing our customers complete satisfaction. We are able to maintain these policies by working closely with our manufacturer partners and working hard to keep our costs under control. Unfortunately there are times, such as this one, that customers take advantage of our open policy and return almost all the products they buy. Most manufacturers will not accept returns for product that is in working condition and we are forced to sell those products below our cost and were happy to do that in almost every circumstance. However, we simply cant allow an individual customer to return a high volume of product and continue to offer the price matching and open returns that make us a preferred place to shop for all our customers.

We never want to leave a customer dissatisfied and we are committed to saying yes to any reasonable request. But when one customers requests become unreasonable and jeopardize our ability to satisfy all our customers we can be forced to say no in order to say yes to the rest.

I was also a 25 year happy customer, then I had a very similar experience with a new gas range. On the second return trip to replace the same defective component, the ABT repair guy told me that everybody at ABT and the manufacturer were angry and they would not service this unit one more time. He proceeded to use a flashlight to look for any misuse or abuse of the unit to give ABT a "wild card".  I will probably still buy from them, but only products where there are no potential issues.

Same Return Problem with ABT

I had a very similar experience. 25 years as a happy buyer at ABT and I will still shop there, but not when there is a potential for a serious return.

I bought a Premier 36" gas range a few years ago. The black enamel coating on the cooking surface was defective (I don't mean it wasn't perfect to look at - I mean it had serious blemish flaws on the surface where enamel was missing). When ABT sent out the SECOND replacement surface, the ABT employee installer informed me that "Everybody at ABT is talking about this and is very upset with you and if you don't like this surface, you wont' get another. We have discussed this "situation" with the regional manager of Premier and we have all bent over backwards for you already". He proceeded to look for cases of personal abuse/misuse of my brand new range hoping to find a wild card for ABT and Premier. He also failed to balance it correctly. The product works, but the storage door has already fallen off of it (an internal screw sheared and is unreachable) and one burner still wobbles where the surface isn't perfectly flat.

Yes, I still will probably shop ABT if there are NO unknowns regarding the product purchase.
