Academy Collections sent several letters in 2001 and I paid them on a debt in early 2001 and was told the debt would then be settled. After settling the account and the payments all cleared the account was then sold back to Citibank and then resold as a full debt to five different other collection organizations

Keith Dickstein is the owner of Academy Collections. I would send him a Certified Letter or letter via USPS Priority Mail with signature confirmation, stating that this "debt" ws settled, along with proof of payment. Also send a cc to the Pennsylvania Attorney General and the Maryland AG (also enclose proof of payment), as well as the American Collectors Association. Unfortunately, feeding these debt scavengers makes you prone to even more extortion and rip-offs, which is why it is not a wise move to deal with anyone other than the original creditor. 99% of the time, you can pay through the nose, but they will continue to report it as a collection account and sell your information to other bottomfeeders.
Good luck. Hope you can get some help through the AG.
