So I responded to an entry-level management opening from Careerbuilder.com. I showed up for the initial interview, and I was told that the company marketed products from companies like the Oakland A's but their main focus was Home Improvement. Turns out I was one of the 'handful of people' selected for a second interview.

I showed up for the 2nd interview and what we ended up doing was going to neighbor hoods in the Sunrise area and canvasing the area. The guys went door to door trying to get people to sign up for roofing consulting as we hit every house on the block pulling out his laminate to each door he asked "what would be your next home improvement option if you were to do one" either the people would say no thank you or wouldn't even open the door.

The guys were not able to sign anyone up. During this interview, they revealed to me that every house they sign up they get $50 for signing up "thats not including the piece of change the company gets out of it" they work Monday threw Saturday 9am-6pm and generally average 3 sign ups a day with 3 more on Saturday. The job advertisement that I responded to indicated entry-level management positions from $35K-$45k per year. The guy told me that he had been working there for almost one year and was an assistant manager and about to be a manger in 3 months "so managers still do this door to door crap" I did the quick math and figured out they on an average only make $300 but if you don't sign up anyone then you don't get paid and if the signing up didn't work they were selling these Winnie the Pooh Encyclopedias called POOHPEDIAS with the retail of $50 they were selling them for $10...we also sold none of those.

In short, these people are advertising entry-level management positions and in reality are trying to get people to pester home owners door to door waisting your time when there are real office job opportunities out there waiting for you don't waist your time...i didn't
