I am submitting this this complaint because I have been lied to, mislead, and just plain taken advantage of, by Admiral Moving out of Fayetteville, AR a Mayflower company.  My nightmare started on1/9/12 when the movers, Charles, the driver of the truck, and his helper Kat arrived to load my goods.  Charles ticketed my items as Kat started to load.  After that, Charles spent most of his time on the truck.  The item for which my compliant revolves around is a cherished family heirloom.

My Grandmothers coffee table. The table is 5 feet long, solid maple, and had drop sides that could be raised and held in place with wooden slides.  The table was, as observed by me, carried out by Kat, upside down on his shoulder.  I can still picture this in my mind.  I was in a panic, praying that one of the sides would not fall over and break off, as I can truly say that this table was my most cherished possession.

I watched  in horror as he carried it out the door and onto the truck. After everything was loaded, the driver, Charles, came in to finish paperwork.  I noticed Charles put a sticker, #236 to be exact, on my inventory list, draw a line through it, and void it. I was offered no explanation.  I simply assumed that a sticker had been ruined and that another had been used. Before leaving I was told by Charles that my things would be taken care of as if they were his.

On 1/16/12 my goods were delivered. As things were unloaded, I noticed that my Grandmothers table was nowhere on the load. I was dismissed by the driver saying that it was probably mixed up with someone elses things. After my goods were unloaded, Charles came in to complete the paper work.  As I sat shaking and on the verge of tears, asking about my table, I was told it would turn up.

I then noted on the inventory that the item that had been voided off the list was my Grandmothers table. Charles told me it was probably left behind and I then told him my story about watching Kat carry it into the truck. Charles said we work on the honor system here, as he pressured me to sign the paper work. I was instructed to contact the company. I immediately contacted Tom Woeffell, the man who had come out to estimate my move, and was told he would inform the person that took care of these matters.

On 1/17/12 I received a claim form via e-mail from a LaVaughn Neilsen. On 1/18/12 I spoke with Ms. Neilsen and told her the importance of this table to myself and my family. The claim form was faxed to Ms. Neilson.  On 1/20/12 I phoned Ms. Neilsen for an update and was informed that a tracer had been put out on my missing items which also included my microwave and a tote containing my bathroom towels. I again called Ms. Neilsen on 1/24/12. Ms. Neilsen did not recall the situation, nor could she find the claim form.  Ms. Neilsen called me back later that afternoon and told me that they had sent Charles, the driver that had picked up my goods on1/9/12 , out to my fiances house  and he was either not answering or not home.

After, on the same day, contacting my fiance , I learned that no one had been there.  My fiance then called Admiral Moving and informed someone named Melody that no one had been there.  I heard nothing from the company until 2/14/12 when I sent Ms. Neilsen an e- mail requesting information on my table and other missing items.  A return e- mail was sent informing me that Chuck Russell would now be handling things  I sent Mr. Russell an e-mail to confirm this and his reply was  yes.  Until 2/25/12 there was no contact, at which time I received a check for $500.

My claim total was for $2200  for which $1500 was for my table. The letter stated that only $500 was allowed for my table and that the other missing items were not noted on my Inventory Control List, however there are 9 totes to be exact that are missing on my inventory control list.  I feel,  as I stated at the beginning of my letter, that I have been lied to and taken advantage of by this company and a very dishonest and misleading driver.  I have not yet informed other family members of the carelessness and dishonesty that has led to this loss.

There is no proof that the table in question actually made it on the truck. After interviewing the driver it was a hectic day and they were being given different instructions by the transferee and her then fiance as to what was going and what was staying.

The claim was resolved per our contractual agreement between transferee and Unigroup. Unigroup did pay for the missing table off of current value. Value is determined by either an appraisel, receipt the customer has or by like item at current value.

This matter was also closed by the BBB on 4/12 Administratively Judged, stating that company made reasonable offer to settle.
