My husband is self employed and we were looking for health insurance. Someone from Adova called and offered what sounded like a good deal on health care.

One of our main concerns were our perscriptions which total about eight between the two of us and only one comes in generic. We were informed that there is a $15 copay on all perscriptions. It sounded good to us, we signed up on 3/30/07.

My Checking account was promptly debited on 4/02/07 for $399.95. Our coverage was to start on 4/15/07, this date rolled around and we still had not received the promised packet and health care cards.

We made several calls to Adova and were told the same thing everytime, the packet was fedexed overnight, we also emailed you all the information we are sorry we don't know why you haven't received it.

Finally on 4/25/07 we got the packet and that is when we found out the $15 copay is on generic only and no one seemed to have an answer as to how much of a discount there was on brand name drugs.

We also informed the person selling us this insurance that I have MS and my husband has had two back injuries. He said not to worry all preexisting conditions are covered. Failing to tell us that the perscription coverage does not cover MS injections at all.

My other two concerns were how the billing was done and weather or not our doctors accepted this type of insurance. I was assured that I could cancel the direct debit to my account and have a bill sent to me. I was also told that if my doctors were not on Adovas list of covered physicians I could nominate my doctors to participate.

I called customer service with these two concerns I was informed Adova only debits accounts they do not sent out bills. And a doctor has to want to participate in Adova Health I couldn't just nominate them.

After receiving the packet and finding the perscription coverage was not what we were expecting we decided to cancel on 4/27/07.

I was told by the customer service representative that it took 72 hours to process. Plenty of time before the next debit date 5/05/07. I also asked for a refund of the origonal $299.95 and she said she would put in the request for that but didn't know if it would happen.

On 5/09/07 I got an overdraft notice from my bank Adova had put through their debit to my account on 5/05/07 causing six transactions to be overdrawn with a total of $150 in fees.

Adova has appologized and said they would be refunding me $599.80 (the origonal $299.95 plus this $299.95) however they couldn't do anything about the overdraft fees, that perhapps my bank would waive those fees.

My bank said they wouldn't waive the fees because Adova was given permission to debit my account.

Adova said to give them 3-5 days to have the money back in my account. We'll see..
