We had a small pool skimmer leak.  After 6 weeks of trying to get a response, a representative came out and wanted $630 for a 10-minute compression test and the downpayment to be used for services (yet to be estimated or quoted).  After returning the next day, he started work without a contract, then got us to pay for and sign for the work done for an additional $1325.  The service involved one individual for 2 1/2 hours to repair the end of the skimmer pipe, gluing a few pipe fittings.  He also chipped away at the corner of the concrete and left a total mess behine.  After calling the pools service, "Al", he refused to either finish the cleanup or return any part of the $1845 that was paid for about 3 man-hours of work.

skimmer leak repair rebuttal

AUTHOR: al - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 22, 2015

We have been in Business since the 1960's and serve thousands of customers for pool and spa repairs. We recognize that we are not perfect and have made some mistakes over the many years....but the mistakes were few and we always try to correct them. While 99% of our customers have been good, honest, hardworking and loyal, there is, unfortunately, those customers that fall in the 1% catogory who misrepresent the facts, and even dishonest at times. This complaint by customer Jim Noggle falls in this 1% catogory.Mr Noggle has totally misrepresented the facts and attempted to extort more work from us for free under his threat of filing a ripoff report and further attempt to harm our online reputation. He fully understood what the diagnostics and repairs prior, during, and after the work was performed. He was happy with the work and signed " work satisfactorily completed" after completion of work contracted. We conducted an additional pressure test on the skimmer line to confirm the success of the repair. The pressure test confirmed the leak repair was successful, and also indicated another small leak elsewhere in the skimmer line, most likely under the skimmer, but the line was functional. Mr. noggle was informed prior to any work done that there may be additional leaks elsewhere at an repair additional costs, should he want that repair done. Mr. Noggle was there the entire time while work was performed and at completion of the work he paid us with a personal check. A couple days later  he called our office and spoke to me, Al, and said our tech did a good job and wanted to now get the other small leak under the skimmer repaired and that he would dig out the area and expose the skimmer line. I asked if he was going to do all that,he should just as well repair the leak himself instead of having to pay our tech for a return trip and repair fee. He responded that he wants us to repair this 2nd leak and that we should do it for free. I said he would have to pay some fee..He then threatened me of filing the rip off report if  we don't do it for free. He basically said that he would lie by misrepresenting the facts of what was actually agreed upon and work performed. At that point I relized the kind of person I was dealing with and ended the conversation.
