Allegiant Travel Plane delayed by 5 hours by mechanical failure. Promised a credit for compensation, but denied. Oakland, California

We were on flight 2017 this morning when we were asked to disembark because of a mechanical problem. A replacement plane was supposed to come from Las Vegas and the \"conservative\" estimate was that it would leave Oakland at 1 p.m. This would have meant waiting at the airport for five hours. We decided to go home. We talked to the agent about getting a possible refund and he said you might be able to give us credit for our next Allegiant flight. Then, when we asked for credit it was denied.
