Allied interstsate not only has been making harrassing phone calls and letters,now they are lying about me,accusing me of not responding to their allegations.

I talked to them several times explaining the situation.

When i agreed to buy 1 book from History book club I explained emphatically that I will NOT pay for any merchendise that I did not ask for.

Unsolicited merchandise is a gift.

Nevertheless,I told them they may have the merch. back, but I'm not paying for it.

They didn't liked that answer,so now they are reporting me to credit index for failure to respond.

INCOMPLETE REPORT

AUTHOR: Billcoll01 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 07, 2008

1ST WHY IS THE ROR ON THE COLLECTION AGENCY IF THE HISTORY BOOK CLUB IS THE ONE THAT RIPPED YOU OFF AS PER YOUR POST. 2ND YOU NEED TO DEFINE "HARRASSING CALLS" AS CALLING SOMEONE AND ASKING THEM TO PAY A BILL IS NOT HARRASSMENT IN OF ITS SELF. AS FOR SLANDER, WHICH WEBSTER DEFINES AS FOLLOWS;
A type of defamation. Slander is an untruthful oral (spoken) statement about a person that harms the person's reputation or standing in the community.
IN ORDER FOR THIS COMPANY TO HAVE SLANDERED YOU, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO DISCUSS YOU ACCT WITH OTHERS AND OR PUBLISHED INFO ABOUT YOU. I SUGGEST THAT YOU REPOST UNDER THE CORRECT CATEGORY OR ADD INFO TO THE CURRENT POST & INVEST IN A DICTIONARY

Hello, I believe Allied Interstate is a debt collection agency.

There are several guidelines on the internet that you can use to follow when contacting a debt collection company. The first thing is to record any verbal communication you have with them. Include date/time and as much information as you can. After you have collected enough verbal information you should then contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to help you. They will allow you to file a report and you can present your evidence.

The thing about debt collection is you are guilty until proven innocent. They are the ones that have the ablility to write to your credit report. 9 Chances out of ten when something is removed during a dispute it ends up right back on there in a month or two.

If you have all the documented information, you sent or can send the merchandise back I would go ahead and contact the FTC. I would also dispute these rulings on whatever credit reports they exist on. If you are unable to come together with solution for this I would advise you to contact whatever credit reporting company allied interstate has reported to (might be all three) and place fraud alerts on each account since this is obviously fraud at that point in time. You can then pursue legal action to have this matter resolved.

In this world of ours we live by out credit, our credit is us, we are our credit. However we have very little control over what goes on with our credit beyond paying our bills, any company can smear someones credit report at anytime and unless challenged they can use these tactics to push up interest rates and who knows what else.
Best of luck to you
