I interviewed for this company right out of college and was overly excited by the fact that I got called back for a "second interview" - walking around outside for 8 hours in blistering high heels in the blistering summer sun (I got a nasty burn and my feet bled), because i was not made aware that that was what we'd be doing all day. I'm an athletic person and would have dressed appropriately, wore some sunscreen, and been fine had I been told what we were actually doing. (But then again, I would have seen through it at that point and cancelled). We made 1 sale.

At the end of the day I was disgruntled but ever optimistic because of the lovely flow chart my shadowee laid out showing all the money I could be making in a year if i just worked hard enough. Oh lord-and they offered me the job! I accepted on the spot and was excited. However, on the long commute home (I live in new jersey) a few things began to come to the surface.

The long long days making little to no progress

Not getting any sort of base salary - i think she said $3.75 a day

Spending your own money on transit (more than base pay)

The morning and evening rituals of inspirational chanting and loud music

The 2 "team nights" a week that keep employees out until the wee hours of the morning. As far away as I live, that would take a significant toll on the ammount of time i could do ANYTHING else and would negatively impact my otherwise perfect relationship.

The devoted and brainwashed obsession with the management system

The devoted and brainwashed opinions of Allie-the boss

The love bombing

.... People... it's a CULT, and very close to being a pyramid scheme.

I emailed them back and took back my acceptance. I explained a few reasons I felt uncomfortable with the company and was met with a nasty response admonishing me for speaking my mind, and accusing me of just not being motivated enough to work hard enough to make money. This should have gotten under my skin because I pride myself on my work, but really i found it laughable - as the upper management does no work at allure - they just feed off the underlings' sales.

The employees that tell you that the reason you can't succeed there is that your motivation and work ethics aren't good enough are full of it. A month after interviewing at this "Management group", I got a job at an ACTUAL management group. 1 year later exactly I have received 2 $1,000 raises and a $2,500 bonus for Christmas - so you really can't tell me I have a poor work ethic. That's really laughable.

Sorry Allure, but making guaranteed $39,500/yr and $21.70/hr over time when i work over 35/week and time and a half over 40hrs + free MTA subway card + health insurance + 401k when I qualify in a month + 22 personal days + 11 holidays AND the REAL opportunity for upward mobility beats $0.42/hr (cause lets be real, you work 9 hour days) + MAYBE 90% of one or two $90 sales (if you're really pushy) every few days hands down.

I realize that I got really lucky and recieve more benefits than most - but your practices are deplorable. You basically use slave labor and their too brainwashed to even know it. When they figure it out they leave- which explains the huge turnover.

BOTTOM LINE: Don't bother with this "opportunity" - you will lose money, and waste time you could be spending building actual, valuable, marketable skills. Go out and take an Excel class and go for an entry level position in accounting or collections. At least you'll have a salary there. At least you can move up. At least your business will be legitamate and will offer you benefits. If you like Allure's "Marketing" style, of just annoying people until they let you in, you'll love collections.

I digress. OVERALL OPINION: EMPHATICALLY REPULSED.
