I took my 18k thick and heavy white gold ring to have a tiny missing CZ replaced. They originally told me they wanted me to pick it back up in 8 days (that should have rang a bell for me to walk out, however I didnt because I trusted them based on reputation) I then convinced them I'd pick it up on monday November 12, 2007 (I had dropped it off Thursday November 8, 2007)

I returned the following monday to pick up my ring, when the "trusted" jeweler Ralph handed me back my ring, I quickly inspected it to see if the CZ was replaced and it was. I paid him the $15 that I owed, placed the ring on my finger and walked out. As i was walking I noticed the ring felt different, it was much sharper around the edges and looser around my finger. When I inspected it in the light I noticed that the inside of my ring had been shaved down. It was obvious that it was tampered with and the ring felt significantly lighter. I also noticed it was much cleaner on the inside where the backs of the CZ's stuck out.

When I had gave the ring to Ralph I asked if he could clean it and he said that it wouldnt be a good idea because the glue that adheres to all the cz's would cause them to fall loose. So why was it so clean inside? Because Ralphs partner in crime named Yuri, removed all the CZ's Shaved down the very inside of my ring, where it is not obvious to the naked eye, replaced all the Cz's and then charged me $15. Not only did he take a few grams of gold off my ring, they had the NERVE to charge me $15! The amount of gold they took off my ring was enough to make a pair of earrings.

No less than 15 minutes later I returned and politely told them that they had tampered with my ring. All three men in the store, Ralph, Yuri, and a young man in which I dont know his name, hounded me and proceeded to call me "Crazy" They said I was imagining this and I didnt know what I was talkng about. I even demonstrated how easily the ring falls off my finger and Ralph laughed, mocked me and said that that was the way I gave it to them. I said if my ring was big I would have asked you to resize it, but the truth of the matter is I have been wearing this ring on a daily basis for almost a year now and I know how it should fit and feel.

Yuri the jeweler with over 25 thieving years in the business also proceeded to disrespect me, laugh at me, and they refused to do anything about this. The young man said "if we shaved anything off your ring, it was probably 50 cents worth" and he went to the register to give me 50 cents when Ralph replied "don't give her anything, she deserves nothing"

The saddest part of this story is that I have been to Almaz Brothers before and have never experienced such trashy service... The type of service that you would expect on canal street in New York City. I know that the price of gold has gone up significantly in the past few months, but this is no excuse to ROB your long time customers of their fine gold jewelery. They should be ashamed of themselves. They wear the Jewish Kippah on their heads to remind them that Gd is above them, however they werent thinking about Gd when they were shaving down my ring, robbing me, deceiving me, and then laughing about it.

Almaz Brothers A brilliant diamond in Astoria

AUTHOR: Eleni - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 07, 2010

Hey Donna Get a Life,

I take extreme offense to your allegations of this prestigious establishment, I have been a customer at Almaz jewelers for well over 18 years now. I was surprised when my niece googled the store name, looking for their mailing address, and came upon your posting.

Everyone who has lived in the community knows the two brothers Ralph and Yuri to be reputable, everyone who has ever dealt with them has only good things to say, Ralph is extremely attentive and accomodating and Yuri a master craftsman, and because of that they have been open, at the same location for over 25 years. It is impossible to believe what you are claiming.

Use your logic (if you have any commonsense at all), anyone knows that time is money, and the sheer amount of time it would take for them to remove all your CZ's cut the top of your ring off, make a new identical part in 10k and then re-assemble the whole ring, a complete waste of time. And to what end, how much gold could they have possibly shaved off,  a few dollars worth? I'm 100% sure they would not waste there time on such a futile endeaver even if you paid them for it.

So I have to say, that you should get sick to your stomach when you pass their store, for the slander you caused, to me it sounds like a clear case of someone trying to get something for nothing, and then getting upset when it doesn't work, to bad there is no recourse for them through a website if I were them I would track you down and sue you, however it doesn't seem like they would get much from you anyway.

Donna You are pathetic.

Thieves! Liars! DO NOT TRUST THEM!

AUTHOR: Deelicious - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 26, 2007

As I had stated earlier, I had my ring tested and the top part of my ring was replaced with CHEAP 10k made in USA gold which is different
from my european 18k white gold. I do not buy junk gold.

I never said my ring was polished, I asked for it to be polished and Ralph advised against it. When I got my ring back I noticed it was
clean, that was because Yuri cut my ring, which by the way he did a terrible job because I can see where he cut it..and made a cheap replica and attached it to the bottom of my ring--you would think he would atleast leave the bottom of my ring alone, but he shaved it until it was razor sharp.... He took just enough gold to
make 2 pairs of diamond earrings.. (just imagine it, 18k white gold...set in stolen diamonds..just lovely) . Merry Christmas and
Happy Hannukah.

Believe me Mark (if that's your real name), I wouldnt go out of my way to type this whole
paragraph if it was a lie. And if it was a lie, I wouldnt state that I have visited Almaz Brothers before, I have no other reason for being
against your establishment. My anger doesnt stem from what I have lost...it is the principle. People who lie, should be reminded on a daily basis of why they are bad people. This posting is just a start.
Its gds' job to do the rest.

I have been living in Astoria all my life and can remember your store being there from as long as I can remember. Ever since this experience everytime I pass your store I get sick to my stomach thinking about how I have been deceived... I really get physically ill.

Its funny to me how you begin your paragraph stating all the "good" that your father has done. Defense mechanism or perhaps a guilty
conscious?

HAHA, GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL AMERICANS. Even Her

To whom it may concern:

I Mark Sofiev am shocked to hear of this report. I had 13 customers call me the same day of the posting to inform me of this phony report. I am a proud son of Almaz Brothers and carry upon myself all necessary morals and guidelines to be a honorable jeweler like my father. To think of such a thing is sad enough, to publish this lie is a act of irreverence. The following is a true version of Almaz Brothers Fine Jewelers Fraud, thieves! Will shave down your gold and steal your diamonds! Astoria New York Almaz Brothers Fine Jewelers

First of all, my dear Customer why would you lie in the very beginning? You stated in the title that, we shave down rings and steal diamonds. In your case as you stated you came in with a white gold ring to have a tiny missing CZ replaced.
Fine so how then do you have the audacity to claim we steal diamonds? This already concludes that your claims are 100 percent Invalid. Was this just a desperate act to hurt our reputation I believe so, you be the judge. Your actions are futile our reputation is built with bricks, as you stated Yuri the jeweler with over 25 thieving years in the business also proceeded to disrespect me my father Yuri is a philanthropist he supports hospitals in Israel, and is a key member in the Eduard Nektalov Foundation, who distributes food to unfortunate family in the New York Queens Area ( If you would like to be part of the E.N.F. please try to contact me, we everyone one person feeds 10) .

Once again she clams we are disrespectful but how can you respect someone who is calling you thieves in front of our face, next to your customers in your store. The store that has been in business for 25 thieving years. Fact, we are in business since 1984 which is 23 years. Fact this is the first reported complaint 2007. Fact we have had including today 7,488 Business days. So this brings me great joy to say I am proud of Almaz Brothers, we try our hardest I mean we really put out customers first. Our customers know this and kept us in business for 23 years.
In this case I "the young gentleman" did come downstairs in order to create peace of mind for her. As she wrote The young man said "if we shaved anything off your ring, it was probably 50 cents worth" and he went to the register to give me 50 cents Though this is not how I speak I will say my reported actions are Valid. I explained and if you are reading I shall continue to explain. Fact is gold dust that you claim we shaved off would cost maximum 50 cents. So in order to calm her down I offer her money from my pocket, which I see now how Ralph is correct I shouldn't give her anything.
Furthermore we do professional jewelry repair on premises, we receive polishing jobs from all over the country due to out outstanding reputation. So how can we set your Cubic Zirconia's polish the whole ring and then shave it? If a real jeweler would just look at you claims and see the ring he would like my father laugh at the impossibility. It is impossible to have a polished ring with shaving markings; the polishing process removes all scratches.
Ergo your claims have been studied and proven false through various avenues.

All an All, God Bless America and our civil right. I appreciate practicing our right of freedom of speech and freedom to assemble. It is beautiful to see that if someone has done wrong by you there is a means of publication for the public. But it is sad to see that people get away with defamation especially to community store owners who stay in business to keep our customers happy. Truth of the matter is we give more than we ask.

Thank you for reading and if anyone who has any inquires please call or come in.
I'll be glad to help my name is Mark and I am 3rd generation Diamond manufacture,
2nd generation Jeweler.
