Amanda or Mandy as a first name.  Last names include McDougall, Manown, Manow, Matricciani, Forbes, Seiler.  She also uses her daughter for a name to sell by, which is Ashlen Forbes.  Her business names have changed many times as well:  Happy on Hooves, Your Next Horse, Thoroughbred Prospects, Brummel Horse Farm, and more.  She also has left a wake of unpaid barn owners behind.

Just do a ripoffreport search on every name, barn, and business name above, and you will see just that she just recently (as in the last month) was evicted from Brummel Horse Farm for non-payment and she also left with more than one person's pre-paid lesson money.  She has also, once again, changed her business name (thought she said that she would not do that again). 

For every report, she has her family and friends come on and post fake positive replies.  Jonas turned out to be a combination of her brother and of her.  Steer clear of this unpredicatable ripoff artist.

Let me just say up-front that I am not a horse person. I have ridden a few times and have mucked a stall or two but that is the extent of my involvement with horses. The times I have been around horses and had a riding lesson here or there have been through my relationship with Amanda.

Amanda has been my nearest and dearest friend for 16 years. There have been times in my life when the only person to turn to has been her and every time she has been there for me. She sat with me in the emergency room in the middle of the night when I didnt know what was wrong with my son. She took a litter of 3 week-old kittens that had been abandoned at my house and bottle fed them to ensure their survival. Amanda has been my maid of honor not once but twice (my mistake not hers and she did try to warn me the first time). She took me to and from work and watched my son when life was at its worst for me. We have laughed together, cried together and questioned the world together. Amanda is one of those friends that never judges you, always listens, would do anything for you and always has your best interest at heart.
 
The things being written here are not the person I know. I have witnessed some of her transactions and have always been impressed with the absolute honesty with which she conducts business. I have seen her turn away potential buyers because she didnt believe there was a horse in her barn that fit the buyer. She is more interested in the well-being of the horses than she is about making money. Amanda is a horse lover through and through. If you had a problem with her or one of her horses I would have to guess you didnt contact her and honestly discuss the issue(s). If you had she would have done anything in her power to ensure both you and your horse were happy.

Thanks Amanda (Mandy) for all of the years behind us, all of the lessons you have taught me and all of the years ahead of us that I have to look forward to.

I purchased a Mustang gelding from Amanda, and during our conversation about him and his training, I really felt that she was on the same wavelength I was. She was very upfront about what he has done or hadn't done, and I felt confident buying from her.

His price was very reasonable and I am so glad I bought him!! He is my little baby boy, and I am not usually a gelding person. I have 3 mares, but he has a special place in my heart.

I think most people who have problems with others usually do so due to their own shortcomings,  or unrealistic proficiencies. Some people think they can ride anything, just to find out they can't, then blame it on the horse or person who sold the horse to them.

I am so glad I met Amanda, and I love my Inky!!

Bryan, I was writing in defense of myself and my sister concernind the woman who said I posted her personal info. In hindsight, I think it was a little innapropriate for me to do so. But what is innapropriate on ripoffreport?

I read in a post that some lady listed a url of the Queen Anne's countie's pending court date's. So I naturally assumed the people on here ( or more appropriatley the goosip hounds ) new the facts of the case. I may be wrong, if I am I apologize.

Bryan, I listed facts from actual events that I either witnessed, or had very good reason to believe are true.

I used to work at a Maryland race track, there are some pretty savory characters there. I'm sure you heard the gossip from a steward, or an owner and not a groom or a hotwalker.

Bryan, I heard race horses that don't cut the mustard, often get sold for slaughter. It seems a pretty harsh punishment for just not being fast. If there was only someone to give these horses a second chance. Someone who could take these horses in and try to find them homes. HHMMM, wait Amanda could! Oh no she can't because Bryan heard some gossip about her and leticia does'nt think its fair to dye their mane's and tail's. OK screw em, slaughter them. d**n, if only mother Teresa or Gandi were in the horse business, then we would'nt have to kill horses.

Is anyone aware that rescues often make a profit? Has anyone ever considered that the cost of doing business with the public is that you attract some crazies that would find a problem if you sold them Smarty Jones for a hundred bucks.

Please answer me one question and I will never mention you again. Why would deputy Sheriff Goodman, the assistant states attorney,along with three other officers ( to whom I never got their names ) tell me and Amanda that this case was a civil matter and dismiss the charges? Am I lying or are they?

The assistant states attorney said she was going to call you and tell you the charges were dropped, did she?

Amanda didn't tell people about you filling charges against her, you did. So you are involved. The company you choose to keep turned your " private " matter into a public spectacle. If you wanted it to be private, the people who post on this site would have never known about it.

Why won't you simply call Amanda and work out a deal, she wants this to go away much more than you do, trust me. You may, be out money, but do you know assistant states attorney Lance, something, has threatened to issue warrants for my sisters arrest if she didn't pay you back. That is even after the charges against her were dropped.

Did you know the same attorney said he would write a letter absolving my sister of any civil or criminal matter if Amanda paid you a portion of what you were asking. Then he called my sister on accident, thinking it was you saying," we're going to get all the money you are owed, I think I got her".

Then my sister was unable to appear in court so she called the same Attoney and he said he would postpone it, then the day of court he asked the judge to issue a bench warrant. My sister talked to the judge and he was flabbergasted. These types of thing don't go unnoticed in the eye's of the law. Thats why my sister is getting an attorney, not because she does'nt want to pay you. It could potentially coost more to pay her legal fees. Thats why I'm pissed.

I think you should get paid, but minus the loss Amanda incurred because of your actions. All I know is that the guy who picked up the horse, Devi Hardesty and some other guy told my sister to stop payment on the check because of the condition of the horse. What Amanda did was not uttering because you knew she was going to stop payment. She has proof that the assistant state's attorney for Queen Anne's county saw with her own Eye's. Why else would she have dismissed it? Thats what makes it a civil matter.

I would like to ask that everyone please leave my name and my dispute with Amanda out of this. I have not posted anything on this website or any website for that matter but my dispute with Amanda keeps coming up. Amanda's brother gave my name and details to my case here, and I feel that he has crossed the line. I have been trying to settle this privately in court and it is nobody's business but mine and Amanda's.

Amanda is well aware as to why the charges against her are criminal and her brother apparently does not have all the facts. I would like to say nothing more about this so I ask again, please do not post anything more about me or the case.

I just spent my morning reading through all the reports with my sister's name in them. Jesus, where to start?

Of course I'm pissed to read prople trying to mess with my sister, but I think its worse that there is actually a community of bitter old harpies that sit around plotting. I always thought of animal lovers as kind people. You people are so lucky to be able to be around horses at all, let alone own one. I really don't see the point in this campaign, really think about it. What is there to accomplish? Getting more angry, getting further from decent living?

The annonymis reports are ridiculous, why hide yourself? If you bought a horse from Amanda you didn't like, return it. If you're gonna sweat 500 bucks, you probably shouldn't be owning horses.

The lady who returned the horse in bad condition did not get her money back. Do you believe the horse wasn't messed up? Well I do because the guy who shipped the horse, Chuck, told me it was in a small pen with mud up to its knees and green water. Ask Chuck, Darlene's husband if you know him. Darlene's family are very good people and I don't think would talk crap about Amanda. I was not there when the horse came back, nor have I ever seen the horse, but chuck told me the owner of Amanda's old farm, and some other guy were there and they all told Amanda to stop payment on the check. I don't see what the crime is. Amanda will pay the lady minus her losses, anyone reading this would do the same.

The assistant state's attorney for Queen Anne's county told me to my face that the issue arrising from the stop payment on the check to Wendy Carroll is a civil matter. She dissmissed the charges against my sister and we went home. The next day a man named Lance called my sister and told her the charges were being revised, and that the reason the case was dismissed was because Wendy Carroll did'nt show up for court. I spoke with him on the phone and he told me exactly that, you can ask him. Basically he was mislead, or lying.

My friend's father is a well known, Maryland attorney who also teaches at Baltimore law school. I am going to ask him if what the State's attorney told me and my sister, versus what really transpired is cause for worry. I am also going to ask my attorney what my sister should do. My sister has told me she is going to retain an attorney to help her in this matter. Because that is what grown-ups do. We handle our problem's out in the open. We don't post slanderous statements on some shady website.

Marianna, if my sister sold you a sick horse, or whatever you said the reason was, why in the Hell would'nt you get your money back? Really though, you can't argue that you thought you would have had to get an attorney, because it is obvious you have intimate knowledge of Wendy Carroll's case, a criminal case. The only recourse you have pursued is trashing Amanda on this website. Your approach defies common logic, the shortest distance between two points kind of logic. So, I think you are lying. You are probably jealous of my sister in some way, or mentally unstable. If it was you infering about my sister's appearance on her website, know that I would treat you as a threat, not a woman if I catch you snooping around my sister's place.

Jonas, are we supposed to think you are a navy seal or something? You may have served in the military, or went to Hill school, but that gives you no right to basically threaten people with stalking. I used to work with different horse dealers in MD area and never heard about re-listing fee. In my opinion $500 is just unbelievable. One can buy a horse at the auction (and where in fact many horses are coming from) for $300 - $500, so this "re-listing" fee completely covers the cost of the really junk horse. Everyone I know gives the "try period" (how long depends on the dealer/farm, of course), but if the horse is bad (and it happens), they just either return money back or exchange the horse.

Who have I slammed? I only wrote that if you are not happy return the horse. I did write the reasons why I left Devi's, and I do not have any problems with the people who I rent from now. What horse did you buy? Oh, you are the girl who took onw of my horses to a farm that had STRANGLES...then you wanted to return him. You are the beginners who I have had to change my policies because of. I am sorry that you have ruined the guarantee for other people and that now others need to jump through hoops to buy a horse from us. Please get some lessons and do your horse a favor. He does not need to be abused like this. DON'T COME BACK TO OUR BARN AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN GET YOUR STRANGLES UNDER CONTROL

If you are not happy with a horse please return it. I am the only person who guarantees horses. Use it to your advantage. If you can't ride you should get a trainer. We will not sell to beginners anymore unless you are working with a trainer. WHY?? because it is not fair to the horse if you don't know what you are doing. I would not want someone bouncing around on my back and pulling my mouth out. Horses are not machines and everytime you get on them they are learning. If you can't ride you will teach them bad habits. If you try a horse and it is great then it will ride like that at home unless you have no idea what you are doing. If you think that a horse is drugged pull a blood test.

People like you make me feel bad for which ever horse that you own. I have only NOT refunded one persons money because she sent the horse back to me in terrible shape. We are trying to settle this matter now and I have nothing to hide. Obviously this girl was a beginner and did not know how to take care of the horse. If you want to jet me an e-mail I can send you names of a couple of people who have returned horses to me. I do refund your money less $500. This is my business and why should you use my horse for free?? It costs money to care for these horses and to train them. Vet the horse out is you think it is sick. You have 10 days to do so. It is illegal to sell a horse without a coggins....you can call the vet who pulled it to see if it is accurate. $30 is well worth it. I have never had a RHino outbreak and for a matter of fact I have never had an illness on my farm. My horses don't even go outside together or ever touch each other. Private stalls, turn-out and training. I bet that you can't say that you give that type of quality care to your horse. If you are such an experienced horse owner can't you pick out a horse on your own? Why would you buy something from someone you did not trust?

If you felt that the horse was not suitable then why did you buy it? Did I twist your arm? If you are so great at finding prospects then by all means open up your own business. If I think that the horse is a good jumper that is my opinion. I do not force it on you, you can make your own choices. I really hope that I did not sell a horse to you and you are one of Devi's friends. Have you ever been to a horse show? I am sure that you will find many of my horses in the ring. Haven't you ever heard of tail weaves and dying????? Almost everyone who owns a horse that shows will do these things. Do you really think that it will hurt the horse?

WE use these products on ourselves. I think that you are just being a big brat and you don't know what you are talking about. I will dye a horses tail if they will look good. They deserve to look the best that they can so that they can be competitive in the ring. I love my horses and keep tabs on them. I do not believe that you even purchased a horse from us because I am not aware of any problems. Why didnt you contact me?

O.k. the people who are happy with their horses would have no reason to defend Amanda. Also they are probably honest, decent people who would not indulge in such gossip. I don't know Amanda's schedule, but I have already pointed out that my posts are done when I finish working or get home from social events, which is usually very late. I have info that a nefarious character is also Amanda's enemy. He is a self-proclaimed drug addict who believes Amanda owes him money. He is wanted by the police for crimes undetermined. I think you know of whom I speak. He is violent and dangerous. His further involvement will lead to police action. In my investigations I have discovered a police report where he threatened Amanda Matricciani with bodily harm. No charges were filed. This is public info. Please leave Devi out of this. People have enough on their plates right now. So I will kindly ask you again to answer at least one question from my previous post. Oh and checking times of posts will accomplish nothing but offer a specious prosecution, backed up by your own third party info, not very convincing. I'm sorry to say JONAS is the only one involved who has remained constant. That is to say I have been posting as Jonas only. I already offered Aurora a way to prove she is at least from colorado. Is it just me or is it strange for jen to become involved? I agree that the public needs consumer advocates to protect them, but why does she care? She has never even admitted to owning horses. ?????? It is my belief that she is in fact Devi Rathod-Hardesty posing as a concerned citizen. I am also posing as a concerned citizen, but the difference is I look good while posing. Sorry that was cheesy, but why I'm responding is because " Jen " insulted my origanal thoughts. She has never even admitted to owning horses. ?????? It is my belief that she is in fact Devi Rathod-Hardesty posing as a concerned citizen. Sorry to hear about your negative experience. It looks like she's recently changed her guarantee to the following:
If for any reason, within 10 days, you are not happy with your purchase you can return the horse to us for a refund of the purchase price minus a $500 re-listing fee. It is that simple. Our goal is to have happy horses and riders!

If you would like to opt out of the guarantee you can reduce the asking price of any of our horses by $500.
