AOL does tend to err to it's own favor...funny, hunh?

To Luis:
Word to the wise, m'man, NEVER trust AOHell. They are a massive money making machine, and they don't give a hoot about whom they bulldoze in pursuit of the almighty dollar. And you're right; they do charge your bank account if you go even one second over. That's why they have you submit all your credit/banking info for something that is supposed to be "free". They automatically assume (know) that the world of the internet is huge and fascinating, and that you can easily lose time just looking around. There's lots out there! Naturally, they'll only let you see what suits the Marketing Meatgrinder, and not the real truth that's out there. If you are still burdened with them as a way onto the internet, type the terms "anti-AOL" (minus the quote marks) in your browser and click "go". You'll get some sites, but most of the links will give you a "404" error--"page not found!", or it'll come up as a bad link.
But of course, you have to be careful where you go, and what you do. That same long leash they give you, they will use to hang you in the end. They're tracking your every step and they steer you where to go, as well. AOL is as crooked as the day is long.
Their objective is to keep you hooked. "Ooops, we overcharged you....here, let me fix that by giving you a free month of the AOL service! The credit to your bank account should show up in twenty-four to forty-eight hours..."
They overcharged me a few times, and I used their own tactics against them; I nagged them relentlessly, called my bank, etc. Then I threatened to cancel my account (I had kept my account faithful for a few years, and was considered a valued customer...can ya believe it? Hehh!) They did the same to my Sister, and she used a similar tactic to get her money back.
I will warn you, though...they will do anything they can to justify the charges to your account, but some really good bookkeeping (with your bank) and standing firm on your part will serve to lend a good hand in your cause. And through it all, AOL will try to recruit you, your Family and Friends to get back online and join the "community" (yeah, sure..."community").
After all...it's been proven by the FBI and several Law Enforcement Agencies that AOL IS the preferred "Internet Service Provider" for pedophiles. It is the largest source of pornography and computer hacks and viruses. I have PERSONALLY witnessed a friend of mine lose her husband to another woman online. He was cheating on her with a woman he met in a chatroom on AOL. I told his wife how to find out going through the "back doors" and the keystrokes on their computer to find out for sure.
When my Son was fifteen, I had given him a "mature teen" account. He went into ONE chatroom, and from then on recieved porn that was graphic enough on the e-mail alone to make me puke. Yeah, going into chats is another monster altogether...you could be in for a fraction of a second, and you're getting so much unsolicited email it isn't funny. Or you can have a nice chat with some friends, and then the kiddies come in and flame the room with punters and "progz", "warez", or "botz"...in addition to the filthy language they use to insult the chatters. (Attitudes similar to this Joe from Columbus) These types are normally little ones with some computer savvy and WAY too much time on their hands. They all have big fuzzies from the safety of Mom's and Dad's computer room or office, but in a social setting they're the simpering weevils who wet themselves at the thought of a physical confrontation. Nice "community", hunh? All this, for the reasonable price of (what is it now...?) $23.90 a month? To quote the line of a sharp-witted poster here on ROR, "Did I just s**t a flying pig?!"
Funny how AOL touts itself as a big "SPAM" antagonist. Have you really ever watched the way they market themselves? In every movie, on TeeVee, the radio...and now, even cel phones get AOL commercials and Ringtones (or are IM/Text/AOL compatible). They ARE the original Spammers. Even after you finally get out of the mazes of Customer Service calls, they still get you by filling your mail box with those d**n discs. I just microwave 'em (lightening dances!). And I collect lots of them from the stores and nuke them, too.
Get outta the AOHell corner, and experience the real internet....not the "fluffernet" (my Son calls it that). First ain't always best...'specially when it comes to whuppin's. AOHell is looking to get you in the butt and deal you dirty. Don't give them the pleasure. If you used your credit card to sign up for AOL, contact the EDitor of this site (or search for it on the home page) to learn how to do a "charge back" to get your money, too.
And as for Joe, you're just another Troll. Your pathetic bent is ony lending credence to my statement that AOL (and its employees, i.e. YOU) couldn't care less about the Customer.
What part of the Complainant's header and message body are you apparently missing? "I canceled my account and they still charged me!" is Luis' message--and AOL is notorious for it! Read the other RORs on that selfsame subject. Are all these others wrong, also?
"If you would agree to join the service..you would never be charged for the service."
Mmmoh'kay....does that mean that if I agree to join AOHell, I won't be charged for a "service"...? Or just that AOHell is going to give someone "the business"?
"We keep proof of enrollments with each member who enrolls..."
Redundantly stated. Bully for you. Of course AOHell keeps "proof"...I don't know any smart businesses that don't keep proof of enrollemnt, as it were. However, you are mistaken in attempting to allude that AOL uses that info solely to "prove" that you're signed up...they sell that info to other parties and make money by routing unsolicited mail to your account. And they make the marketing demographic so readily available to the solicitors, too!
I stated earlier that AOL is the #1 choice in "ISPs" for the pedophiles out there; they provide a ready-made market for the predator, and at one time stuck AOL software discs in cereal boxes and happy meals. In the words of Robert Rossney of the San Francisco Chronicle, "(AOL has) built a system that makes it easy for predators to operate and has then turned around and aggressively marketed it to prey." On that note, those of you with personal web pages devoted to your children, pull them now. To a predatory pedophile, that's a shopping list.
Yes, I know the internet isn't to blame, in and of itself. But AOL is the one that's more "in-your-face" than any other ISP, and has such a huge base. This is the one that's made to appeal to the masses.
For you to sit there and pick on someone's writing or spelling merits and call them a "retard" for assuming they could trust what they see in print is farcical. Find something real to point out as a falsehood. Might I suggest, the Tupper Lake Reports? They're right up your alley. Spelling errors and grammatical "whoopsies" abound! Not to mention, the environment in those threads is extremely AOL-esque. You'd fit right in, Darlin'.
Buenas Noches, Gracie!!

Luis, first of all if you're going to file a report online...use a spell check. It's faIR you retard. I am an employee and I deal with schmucks like you all day. If you would agree to join the service..you would never be charged for the service. It's as simple as that.
Oh wait...you didn't join the service...well yeah you did. We keep proof of enrollments with each member who enrolls. So we have proof you did.
Just deal with the fact that you're a moron and be sure to be careful what you sign up for.
