In May, 2002, I cancelled my account with AOL (a very second-rate service for a premium price), with assurances that there would be no further charges. I contacted them again in July when my credit card was still being charged. It's now November, and clearly someone didn't get the message. I have a philosophy that one should never assume malice where incompetence can explain the situation. However, in the end all that matters is that I'm out $23.90/month for five months so far. And just try to find a human being to talk with by telephone.
