Apache Lake Marina & Resort Ripped off for propeller damage to rental boat. Ripped for 2 cycle oil also. Tortilla Flat Arizona

Rented a pontoon boat to take the kids out on. While I was getting or gear together my wife was shown about the operation of the boat. She was shown the propeller and was told that the existing damage was going to be noted on the rental invoice.

Have boated many times before on rentals and our own watercraft. We were extremely careful with the boat and motor (never approached shore or any other shallow water obstruction. Noticed that the boat was hard to steer at higher rpms. Indicates poor rack & pinon design or severely damaged prop. When we returned the boat we were told that the propeller had servere damage and that we were going to have $100 taken out of the security deposit.

What a great way to make another $100 dollars on top of the 175 rental cost. It's also funny the the older couple returning another pontoon boat ahead of us we hit with the same thing.

Words of advice: take pictures of the boat and propeller before renting and watch the rental employee write the details of the condition of the equipment (in their hand writing) and sketches of the damage, if not don't rent it.

Also, used less than 1/8 tank of gas(charged $8, say about three gallons). Then charged $3 dollars for oil. Man! that 40 hp outboard engine used about a quart of 2 cycle oil. Time for a new motor or overhaul.

Will never rent there again.
