In 2004 Henry Devalle talk my wife and I into a sunroom additon we really did not want.  Henry is a very smooth talker and got my wife and I hooked.  After further considration we decided to cancel within Maryland 3 day recsions law.  The $5000 was not returned to us. WE tried to take legal action but Apex Remodeling is difficult to pin down.  we eventually got back $3000 of the 5 as Henry said they had already purchased materials.  Whe I asked to have the biull for eh matrials or to have the materials deliverd to me I never heard from him again

DO NOT LET APEX REMODELING IN TO YOUR HOME!!

did not want

AUTHOR: Chef - (U.S.A.)

So this guy sold you a sunroom you did not want??????? This is what you said in your statement, I am not saying you do not desrve your deposit back in full, but come on!!!!!!!!!!!  Everyday people just give deposits of $5000 for something they do
not want, You were interested in adding this room and decided you did not want it. Which is fine, and is your choice. But how did the salesman get your name and set up this appointment to speak with your wife.

People just please be honest with your reports.

Yes I agreee you cancelled in the 72 hours and you should get your deposit Paid back in full.

part of deposit withheld

Sorry to hear about your experience. Since you cancelled within the 3 days the fact that part of your depositis being kept for materials is not allowed. MD has a home improvement comission that can help on occasions. Federally speaking, that deposit must be retrurned in full.
These statements are not subjective, they are a matter of record.

If they purchased materials within  the 72 hours that is a bad move on their part.
You are entitled to your entire deposit if you cancelled within 72 hours.
Did the contractor give you "a separate notice of recisssion" If not that is illegal.
You should have in your posession TWO copies of this separate notice of cancellation.
This is in addition to "notice of cancellation" appearing on the contract.

You might want to contact the MD attorney general as well.
Does the individual you mentioned own the company?
if not check to see if he has a valid MD home improvement salesperson license.
that is a separate licensed needed in MD to sell a  residential remodeling job IF the person  is not the owner of the company.

This type of behavior hurts the  innocent home owner. I know this was a while ago but, FWIW hopefully this info can help.
