I purchased an entire kitchen of GE Profile series products for my new home. I had obtained several prices from local retailers to obtain the best price possible. I spoke with Dianne (sales person) and Chris (store manager) of Applicance world in November 2008. I gave them a faxed copy of the other bids I had received and asked them to do a price comparison for me. They came back with a price that was several hundred dollars less.

There was a rebate from GE at that time (for profile series groups purchased thru December 2008) which was 300.00 (which they included in their price reduction) along with an additional "double rebate" program thru Appliance World that was an additional 300.00 off. The stipulation was that I was told I had to purchase the products by by the end of the weekend on 11/30 and take possession by 12/15/08 to get the additional rebate. I paid cash for the appliances on 11/29, set the delivery date for 12/12/08. Diane called me back after I purchased and said that due to a full delivery schedule, they needed to move my delivery to 12/15, I asked her if this would be a problem for the rebate and she said no, as long as the delivery was by 12/15. She also told me to make a note on the rebate form that they could not deliver until 12/15.

When I went to complete the rebate form after delivery (as it required serial numbers from the appliances) I noticed that the rebate needed to be postmarked by 12/15, not just delivered. I still put all of the information together and included a note re: the delivery issues. Needless to say, the rebate was rejected as it was not postmarked by 12/15.

I have had numerous calls with Diane and Chris at the store, and it basically came down to they said it was my issue that the date for the rebate was not met and that there was nothing they could do to help. I still have a 1200.00 beverage cooler to purchase-I can guarantee it will not be thru this company as a 300.00 rebate is apparently more important to not back up for them, than the 8000.00 I paid them for the appliances.

I consider myself an excellent customer, and feel I was definately misled by Appliance Worlds sales staff. I relied upon them as the experts to make sure the rebate time frames were met. I would not recommend Appliance World to anyone, if they won't stand behind a small rebate, you certainly cannot trust them to stand behind warranty or damage issues.
