ASPEN DENTAL Charged for comprehnsive exam - "dentist" never even looked in my mouth Columbus Indiana

Went to Aspen Dental for emergency visit and only place locally that is preferred provider for my insurance. They took multiplex-rays, shuttled me in to a room where the dentist came in said needed to have all teeth pulled and dentures made. Never examined me at all and I came in with entire left side of face swollen and in severe pain! Next thing I know the "Office Manager" is showing me options for dentures and explaining treatment plans that will leave me owing more than $5000 AFTER my insurance pays. And that was for the "cheap" dentures. When I told him I was not prepared to make a decision on the type of dentures he stated he would "just choose for me then".

When I protested that I had come in to get the obvious infection treated and the "dentist" had not even addressed that issue he became even more rude and said "there are no notes about it here". When I contined to insist I needed the problem I came in for addressed he finally went and got the dentist who wrote out prescription for antibiotics - but never examined or spoke to me about what was going on with the swelling or infection! The office manager finally agreed to call me later in afternoon after they had a chance to get with my insurance to find out exactly what they would cover.

I found this very strange as they are a preferred provider for my insurance but stated had never had anyone come in with that insurance. (People smarter than I obviously). This all happened on May 27th and I have yet to hear anything back from them. I did not get an itemized statement from them on that day but had to wait for it to come in the mail. Actually received my EOB from insurance first and bill does not match what EOB shows so now will be submitting this all to the insurance for them to look at.

This is a true case of buyer beware - these people just want to charge inflated fees for extractions and dental appliances. There is no patient care involved - felt more like I had spent last THREE hours at a car lot with HIGH PRESSURE salesman who cared nothing about my pain or possible complications from infection. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!
