According to Asset Acceptance, there has been a claim from a retail credit card on my credit report since 2003. (It is now 7/2007) I am currently checking this fact as it's odd - we've refinanced our home since them, done other transactions, nothing was ever said of this.

Apparently, there was a card (I did have one) that was last used in the mid-1990s. They say the principal on that account was a bit more than $100. They say I now owe them more than $400. I told them "no way" was I paying that interest, then they said all they can do is take off 60 percent, bringing the write-off amount to about $160.

I believe I cleared this card back then, but I am investigating on my own before I do anything.
