I contracted to do a mortgage with this company. They switched my rate from 6% to 7.95% at closing. They also raised my closing cost and I didn't find out until i was at the closing table. I would advise everyone not to talk to this company. They are a bait and switch company. After the fact - I have heard a lot of bad things about Assurance. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!

Wife of an Assurance Financial Group Owner

AUTHOR: Wife Of A Mortgage Broker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 07, 2009

First I would like to clarify that we own an Assurance Financial Group in Georgia. We have no control or knowledge of the incident in question. Everyone at Assurance Corporate has always been professional and we fully trust their business practices. With this in mind, I would like to offer a potential other side to this story (just in case). There is a very important lesson that I have learned being the wife of a mortgage broker and that is "no matter how much I think I know about this industry I still will not have a clue". My husband is one of the most honest people I have ever met. One would like to think that everyone is as honest but unfortuanatly that is not a reality I understand. But Before one screams rip-off with such an advanced and situational sensitive industry I would like to invite you to take the time and evaluate what could have happened that would have affected your rate and fee change other than pointing a finger of blame.
1. Did you purchase furniture or buy an automobile before closing?
2. Were you completely forward with personal information or maybe forgot some unpaid bills or lates that could have affected your credit?
3. Did your LO quote you days (or hours) and the rate changed before you gave him the ok to lock?
4. Was the payoff of another property different? Did you have any lates?
5. Was he able to use all of your income as stated or was some of it deemed unusable at that time?
All of these very few details can affect your individual situation. This industry is very complex and can be frustrating for all involved. What your lenders responsibility to you and what they are getting paid for is to keep your best interest at heart and to keep you in the know!
My husband loses deals to "unreal" quotes (unfair) and will not deny that they exist with other companies but I promise that everyone involved (buyer, seller, agents, and the attorneys) at the Assurance Financial Group closings in Georgia are 100% satisfied!!

My advice to all looking to purchase or refi- get referrals!! Ask Questions? What is your educational backround in this industry? How long have you been originating loans? Make sure they know what they are doing (another story in itself) Once my husband looked over a quote from another company that had an incorrect address, taxes wrong....etc.... he said the only thing right on it was the applicants name. So close with who you know and trust for the lowest quote may not be "real" or not the best situation for you in your largest investment you will ever make in your lifetime!!
