My company performed work for AFAS throughout several midwest states.  The work was completed as per request.  After completing the work FAS will begin their "QC" review of the services performed.  The company will decline a work order for minor reasons, sometimes after one "QC" reviewer signs off on a work order another will go back and scrutinize the work even more.  They will commit to prices while you are on site and then not back the prices once the work is completed stating that they never gave the ok for such pricing.  Another of their shady tactics is to place a "vendor base fee" on the work order, which is somewhat hidden upon accepting the job.  The vendor base fee includes a whole list of items to be performed such as removing all debris, an extreem cleaning of the dwelling, mowing the yard and hauling away 30 yds of debris (which is alot) all for the big total of around $450.  To haul that amount of debris to a landfill or to obtain a 30 yd dumpster eats up 90% of the $450 by itself.  When you try to discuss the matter with them, they state "you accepted the work order, when is going to be completed?".  Anyone who wishes to pay out of your own pocket to work I would highly recommend signing on with AFAS, otherwise steer clear as it will be a costly stressful endeavour.
