ATS Diesel knowingly sells transmissions that are built to fail and then force the consumer to pay outrageous prices to have them replaced under their so called warranty. I want to take them to federal court to make sure they stop engaging in false advertising, I as one cannot afford catastrophic breakdowns every 5-10k miles. I have a whole string of emails that they have either ignored or responded to like sniveling cowards that they are.

Why install a transmission other than ATS?

AUTHOR: Absolute Mellow - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 27, 2016

I have been in the auto and truck repair business for 31 years. I have never personally purchased a product from ATS or any other company such as Banks. And I refuse to install these products on a customers vehicle. Just for the reasons you mentioned.

If you want a car or truck built to tow or whatever it is you are after, order it from the manufacturer to be equipped as such. The manufacturers spend a lot of time and money to develop their vehicles to suit the owner's needs. Companies such as ATS and Banks do not have the engineering and money to develop their products to properly fit and work correctly with the rest of the components on today's vehicles. Sure, their transmissions may claim to withstand and develop monsterous torque. But is that what the vehicle manufacturer intended when they designed their truck or car? If the ATS transmission did work as promised and deliver the torque you were seeking would the rest of the truck hold up? The U-joints, mounts, crossmembers, and rear axles? Will the onboard computer compensate for the non OEM transmission? I realize ATS does offer to reprogram the onboard computer to recognize their transmission. But it does not work in harmony with the rest of the programming that the manufacturer builds into their own software.

Your story is one of many I have heard from people who purchased ATS and Banks products. As far as their warranty I can't comment on it because I have never personally dealt with them. This may be an expensive lesson for you.
