I put $40 on AT&T GoPhone. I specifically asked Customer Representative if that money will ever expire. I was told they would not. However to my surprise after 90 days AT&T says - Your money are expired. I wonder how can money expire :) So i gave them my money to pay for the services that I might use and they are taking my money for nothing.Hmm - Isn't that called stealing ?

Yes they do.

This is just another example of a consumer closing their eyes, putting their fingers in their ears, screaming "LA LA LA" and then trying to blame the company for their own carelessness.

AT&T GoPhone is stealing money

AUTHOR: Demian Vladi - (United States of America)

GoPhone is a prepaid service. You put some money into account in order to pay for minutes later. Yes it is not a bank. But - unused money should be returned to customer !!! Not taken by the company. Essentially what AT&T does is stealing. And as it is mentioned in report #681608 AT&T does nor discloses nor warns customers about any expiration on the opened account !!!

Phone Company Is Not A Bank

There are no prepaid cellular plans in the US that will just take your funds and hold them forever for free. Since they have a limited number of phone numbers they can allocate, and they make money by selling cellular service, it would be crazy for them to hold it forever for free, and it doesn't make sense that you would believe that they would.

I don't believe they would really tell you it would never expire, but even if one bad customer service rep actually did say that, the terms and conditions are always spelled out in detail whenever you buy a cell phone (and also on the company's web site).

This is not called "stealing." It is called "you bought something you didn't know how to use."
