AT&T refused to take actions against agencies with crooked and irresponsible associates.

Complaint: I put a passcode on my account just so no one would be able to make changes to my account/package. Then an licensed AT&T agency overrides my passcode and make changes to mobile phone package by adding text messaging internet services without my consent by convincing my son who was 18 at the time of the transaction (July 2007) that he was getting unlimited text and internet services, and AT&T expects me to foot the bill.

I told them they must crazy because if some jack who is trying to get his bonus by pulling a scam with a minor, mess up my account, they should go after the agency that did the override. I ask them to do an investigation and contact me either by phone or email. They said they call my home phone and left a message, but they lied because my home phone does not have voicemail or an answering device.

And the lies continue: they ask me for my email just in case they cannot contact me by phone. No one contacted me by email or phone but yet they claimed they conducted an investigation without me. I am not sure whether they even contacted the agency to verify my complaint. I am just another John Doe to AT&T, but they are wrong, because I am going circulate this email to all the news media and post it to as many internet forums as I can while I my attorney try to intervene in the matter.

This is unfair but because AT&T is a big and bad, they prey on the poor customers that cannot fight back. This time they have it all wrong because I am going to fight this investigation, I would like to have this case reopen for investigation and to see it that this agent takes a lie detector test to prove that my son could not have given him my passcode when he did not know it.

First off....its true that an employee can override a passcode but ONLY with the last 4 of the account holders social security number. But thats not the point.....even if your son, who is 18 (not a minor) could be able to get pass the passcode and the last four of yourr social, he still had to be on the account as an authorized user......if he WAS on the account as an authorized user...then its your fault because by doing that your authorizing HIM to make any changes. Either way....your son DID use the text messaging service RIIIIIGHT? So in the end YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!!!!!. AT&T can credit you the charge for the Text feature of $20 bucks, but they'll just turn around and charge you for .20 cents per text message sent or received and .35 cents for pic messaging.....and if your son requested unlimited then im pretty sure he has quite a few hundred text messages...........that will total to quite a few bucks.....so if I were you I would be quiet and keep the service to avoid any pay per use charges and for further reference....take your son off the account and dont be going to authorized At&T retailers. Go to an actual corporate store....you can tell if one is by locating a BLUE DOT STICKER at the entrance that reads "OWNED AND OPERATED BY AT&T"
