Auctionata is an internet-based auction house with a live feed of the auction, enabling bidder to participate in real-time or make absentee bid ahead of time.

The technology works and overall experience is positive with the use of the website, BUT...

1. Ipad version of Auctionata does not in any way confirm your touch of the BID button. One accidental touch and you just made a bid and a possible unintended purchase.

2. I should mention that my experience is only with the German location of Auctionata and my interest is watches.   I bid on a watch which in the picture seemed to have a bent pusher. I confirmed with Auctionata and they assured me that the problem is with the picture. The watch as described by their watch "EXPERT" is in great condition with no functional problems.  When I received the watch, i indeed confirmed that the pusher is bent and on top of that the flyback function is not working.   Also, the watch arrived in the wrong box, that was too small and the watch was improperly packaged.

It took me over a month to get Auctionata to provide some kind of refund to fix the problems. They did not agree to pay for the complete repair. They wanted me to ship the bad box before sending me a good one and in general treated me with a great deal of suspicion. At the end I wasted too much time and paid too much money to fix the problem which they missed to identify in the first place. I had to send videos, pictures, letter from the watch maker.  I was not treated like a good customer. 

I would not trust their watch expertize at all. They definitely misstate the condition of the watch and overvalue it.

Our customer service team looked into your watch purchase from June 2014 and carefully examined all the communication that took place about the watch. We apologize for the disappointment upon receiving your package, including the bent pusher and incorrect box. In an effort to remedy the situation, we covered the cost of repair for the pusher and flyback function, and offered to send you the correct box.

Throughout the process, Auctionata’s service team responded promptly and professionally to all of your inquiries and believed that you were satisfied with the service. We have also spoken to the watch team to prevent situations like this in the future.

In regards to your concern about the use of the Auctionata platform on an iPad, our technology is something we are consistently improving upon in order to make Auctionata available to a global audience from the comfort of one’s home or office. We have passed along your feedback to our tech support team.
