AudioFile Scam Name Not Revealed Audio File Speaker Scam San Diego California

I was looking for a job not long ago I somehow come across these people that sell home theaters systems and yes a man messages me telling me he works selling home theaters systems all over San Diego I've never heard of scams involving speakers so I agreed to check it out thinking it was a legitimate buisness. When I showed to their "offices" it was a storage place red flag went up but I agreed to go along with it since they said they pay to train me. Turns out they go around scamming people out of their hard earned money selling them phony speakers I felt horrible trying to ask people of they want to but useless home theater system for a ridicules price I went home Nd never went back. yesterday however my dad bought some speakers from who he described as the same people that tried to have me work for them, I was heartbroken I guess it was karma but I felt terrible they scammed him 100$ anyways now I hope I can help or if possible to get police to look into these people I KNOW WHERE THEY WORK OUT OF if anyone is interested going and confronting these scamming no life pieces of s*** you may contact me and I will gladly give you the address :) 

I don't have any personal experience with the speaker scam, but there are numerous reports elsewhere on the internet. Some people have reported that they got refunds rather easily once they found the warehouse. Those reports may be outdated and the scammers may operate differently now. They do set up as a legitimate business because they know that the only people who really can shut them down and take them to jail are regulatory and tax officials.

It's not going to be easy obviously. If you're willing to write off the money, fine. It is going to cost the victim time and money to go after them, and they're counting on that. The price level of about $200 has been set so it is enough to be profitable, but not so high that victims will make a serious attempt to get back. It's likely to become a fight on principle rather than getting a net refund.

Look in the newspaper for their ads recruiting salesmen. The ads may not say "Speaker Sales" but they tend to use the same ads over and over again which are well-documented in other reports. Pretend to be interested as a salesman long enough to find out who and where they are.

If you do find them, do not go to the warehouse alone. You need several witnesses. Intimidation with a group works both ways. It would be foolish for them to threaten violence, though they would likely deny any refund. If violence is threatened or committed, get the police. What they are doing is only borderline criminal, but you could take them to civil court once you find out who they are.

i know how you feel dude. i got scammed out of 250 bucks by the same people in Encinitas recently. I was pissed but the reason why they never get caught is that most law enforcement are apathetic to the "buyer beware" scams. I tried for awhile. you can call and report as well to the anti-crime for organized crime and fraud division in san diego. any police station could give you the number but by calling them they will take your report immediately like they did mine.

The way they work is that a bunch of guys will sell speakers out of a van. They each cost $150 a set, so whatever the guys can sell them for above they can keep and the management is kept away from the ranks so that the company is not responsible for any bad things that may happen.

HERE'S THE LIST OF ILLEGAL/possibly illegal THINGS
---Soliciting. Many cities prohibit public solicitation.
---Counterfeiting Fed-Ex recipts. (The fed-ex recipt they showed me was for only an hour or so before they approached me).
---License Plates - Many people have reported different vehicles with the same licsense plate.
---False Advertising. Many of the techniques they used were very clever but there are many things wrong with the product.
**I specifically asked, so these speakers are made of oak. They replied, of course its made of oak, solid oak.
**I was told that the speakers were made of Kevlar. They are actually made of a cheap lightweight plastic.
**It says it's Black Oak. The black oak is only a plastic coating. the speakers are actually made out of compressed board (scrap wood compressed into a solid but weak board.
**It says that the Tweeters are made of Titanium but they are made out of aluminum or tin at most. (the inner tweeter screws are also decoration so you can't take it apart to see what it's made of or its components.

The main company is a factory somewhere in Canada that makes the speakers out of parts from china. they distribute them throughout the world to smaller non-afiliated companies for about 75 bucks a set since they cost very little to make. the companies then turn around and hire other people to sell them and the sellers make whatever they sell the speakers for above 150 for. It's very simple, tax free money... if you look hard in the san diego job classifieds you'll probably find an ad in there from them trying to hire people to sell the speakers.

i want to get these guys too but it's a royal pain cause they run borderline around the laws. they've been around for over 10 years and are operating everywhere from north america, europe, africa and asia.

Alex, this is Paul, from above. Read my reply to the first complaint. Under that, you'll notice that Mike sent in a suggestion. He says that this is a national business. He is 100% correct there. Teams of speaker salesmen go from city to city selling trash out of their vans. It's the same old story over and over. The suckers wait until after they have thrown away their money to check the deal on the internet. Then, they see that tons of others have been conned too. Mike goes on to say that if you can only find the warehouse, then those good, honest, speaker people would certainly give every penny back. Mike says that that these businesses are "bound to follow the laws".

I guess he's right. I'm sure this whole thing is just one big misunderstanding. I'm positive that these speaker salesmen are fine, upstanding citizens who will be glad to give you a refund. I'm sure that they will even offer to buy you lunch, for all the trouble they put you through. The 3 of you will be able to laugh about the whole thing over burgers and cokes. They're just a bunch of silly boys playing a practical joke on the world. Harmless fun! Of course, they had no idea that the speakers were made in China. They were not trying to cheat you at all! It's just a big misunderstanding.

I suggest you go right over to the warehouse and ask for your money back. It should be easy to find. Just look on the receipt they gave you. Or, you could look on the box that the speakers came in. It will have the company name and address. Or, you could look on the warranty card that came with the speakers. Just tell the secretary that answers that you'd like a full refund. I'm sure she will be more than helpfull. You should have no problem at all getting your money back.

What's that you say Alex, you didn't get a receipt? Huh, that's funny! Well, try looking on the box for the address. What's that? You tried calling and there was an answering machine, but nobody ever called you back. Did you check the web site for the location of the warehouse? Nothing? That's funny. Well, maybe you can drive around Schaumburg until you find the guys. Surely, they must still be there. Perhaps, you could take an ad out in the newspaper asking if anybody knows where the warehouse is. Don't give up! If it comes down to it, you can drive up and down every street in the whole city until you find their warehouse. Check everywhere. Go in the restaurants and ask if anyone knows where the warehouse is. It shouldn't take you more than 6 months to check every street and every business in the whole city. Sure, this will take hundreds of dollars in gas and months of your time, but in the end it will all be worth it. You'll finally be able to walk out with your head held high and say that nobody plays Alex for a fool. d**n right!

And, i'm sure once you find the place, the speaker guys will gladly give you a refund. After all it is the right thing to do! Even though there is a dozen of them and only one of you, don't be afraid. It doesn't make any difference that you are alone in a back alley storage garage. Don't give that a thought. They wouldn't dream of beating you so badly that you need to go to the hospital for treatment, would they? After all, that's not the way a legitimate business works, right? Maybe you should take your girlfriend along. I'm sure she would like to give the speaker salesmen a piece of her mind, too.

So, get right on this Alex. Drive up and down until you find that warehouse. Then march right in there and demand a refund! Don't let them get away with this. They can't fool you! You have the law on your side.
Let everyone here know how you make out. Out of about 100 reports here, you'll be the first to get a refund. Maybe your story will give the others hope. In fact, maybe everyone who bought the speakers could go back to the warehouse after you find it. I know that i'd be willing to drive from Florida to Illinois if it meant that i'd get all my money back. Hell, that would be worth it to me.

Alex, are you starting to catch on now? Even if you could find the warehouse, all that would happen is that you'd get injured. The people would laugh at you. Then, they'd kick your a*s. You could bring a gun. But, are you really willing to kill someone over $200? The cops won't help you with the speakers. But, they d**n sure will arrest you if you kill a dozen of the speaker salesmen. I'm sure it won't come down to that. If you go in and demand the money with a pistol in your hand, they'll see you mean business. Of course, they may have a gun too. Are you up for all this?

A far more intelligent thing to do is write this whole thing off. Go buy a set of decent speakers and mount them in the nice boxes. At least that way you will end up with a pair of speakers. Cause from the look of things, I d**n sure don't see you, or anyone else, ever getting a refund. Read the last sentence, above. If your money really mattered so much, you wouldn't have given it away so easily to begin with. Right?

I have also been a victim of this type of scam (I have already posted a report). Does anyone have any idead on how to go about finding the warehouse?

Realize you are not just dealing with two or three dishonest guys in a van. This is a well-organized national and even worldwide business, which actually is bound to follow the laws that legitimate businesses have to, but hopes the customers will never figure it out.

At the top is an organization that manufactures and/or imports the speakers and hires people to drive the vans around and make sales. The salesmen work on commission. Their script about having improperly obtained the speakers is officially described as a "sales gimmick."

They used to even issue receipts for the speakers. Why should you have a receipt for soemthing you're not supposed to have? If you can locate the "warehouse" that your local branch is working out of, they pretty much have to allow you to return the speakers and give your money back when confronted.

Dave, your money is gone. You let it drive away in the white van. The same goes for victim, above Dave. I can understand you guys getting conned. But you need to face the facts now. Your money is gone.

Fingerprints won't help you.

Police reports won't do anything except show the police that you were fooled.

Nobody will be showing up in any courts.

You both willingly paid for junk. The only thing both of you can do is live and learn and not let this kind of thing happen again. When you go to this site and threaten the people who sold you the speakers, it shows that you still don't have a clue.

First, it's not likely that they are surfing the web. They are probably out scamming with more speakers.

Second, they spent your money long ago. And, then went on to spend the next suckers money after that. Even if you found them, all you would get is their gas money. Each day they need to scam new victims. That's how these people live.

So, both of you, forget the money. If your money really mattered so much, you would not have given it away so easily in the first place!

Today I was approached by a young white guy (22ish)with two black hoop rings in his lower lip in the parking lot of the Aspen Grove shopping center in Littleton, CO near Mineral and Santa Fe.

He was accompanied by his younger (20ish) female partner who was driving the white GMC van loaded with about 10 583LR Audofile speakers. The male produced a legitimate looking ad for the speakers with a retail value of $1495,00 a pair. With the warranty information and song and dance regarding the boss needing to unload these speakers I was somehow convinced it was a legit offer.

Now I'm here at home reading the rip-off reports on these apparent garbage speakers...feeling like a dumb a*s for believing these young punks. After some negotiating, I coughed up $200 for the pair. I'm now afraid to purchase the cables to hook these up to my Sony projection TV because they will probably sound like crap....or even worse that they won't do anything!!!

As they drove away I did manage to write down their license plate number...just in case. Now I will probably call the cops and file a report on these losers. I feel stupid myself for not sniffing out this scam in the first place and being pressured into buying into this apparent scam. Can someone tell me how I can get my money back?? This is so lame...
