I recently bought a brand new Honda Accord LX 2007 in 9/30/06 for $18,500. I am 22 year old. This is my first time buying a car alone so I was somewhat inexperience.
The finance department convinced me that I should finance in order to raise my credit score, which would be beneficial in the long run. He then overwhelmed and gave me misleading information on the options. I was led to believe that those options come standard. A month after the purchase, I realized an extra $5000 had been added to the final price. plus the regular fees, the initial $18,500 turned into $25,500.

I am sorry for the multiple updates. I just look over the papers. It had occurred to me that I dont recognize the many extra charges. So one of 2 things must had happen
1 - The man was extremely good at distracting my eyes from the figures.
2 - He printed the numbers onto the paper AFTER I had signed the paper

Autowest dishonest sale practices

AUTHOR: Son - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 31, 2006

I just recall some more information that might be relevant to the report.
1) Throughout the whole process, the guy from the finance department never disclose the cost of the extra options.
2) When he ask me to initial and sign the Sale Contract, he pointed at the spots needed to be signed/initialed. He never show me the parts of the paper where it show the cost of the extra items.
3)He never show me the amount of money financed plus total extra money financing would cost me.
4)After I signed and initialed each paper, he would take out each carbon copies, fold them, and put them into the envelope. I never got the chance to look at any of them.
5)He never told me that I would be charged an extra $2,515 for his service.
The $18,499 Honda turned into $24,920.44, or $29,211 after finance if I pay my monthly bill according to schedule.
