Subject was an interviewee for the position of caregiver. I gave her my ATM card to buy a pair of bottles of soda. She extracted more than that: she took $40 in cash for herself. It was meant to pay her for the day after services were rendered.

i wouldn’t have reported this if this was a joke; one thing that’s important when reporting is credibility.  The way she handled me during this process— she even offered a 7-day trial run at no charge— gave me the impetus to trust her.  You’re right: it was only $40.  But if she could do this to me, who knows how many vulnerable people she could rip off, if she hasn’t already done so to others.

So

So are we to gather that your normal "interview" process is for you to give a total stranger your ATM card and PIN number so that they can go buy you a couple of soda's?

If this isn't some joke then to be totally honest you are lucky that you have only lost $40 and may want to thank this person for showing you a big problem. As someone with that access could have taken you for a lot more.

What did the police say when you reported this?
