Bank One - Chase Visa Ripoff! Chargede me $14.95 to pay their bill online Nationwide
*Consumer Comment: Everyone does it
*Consumer Comment: Pardon me? the fee is ridiculious
*UPDATE Employee: When you called you were notified....
Bank One tried to increase the interest on my account if I wanted to keep their visa card. I did not want to have their card and cancelled it and continued to pay off the card as agreed with the present interest rate. I destroyed the card and do not have a code # on the card to pay online. Unfortunately I needed to use the service.
I know of no other company that would charge $14.95 just to pay a bill online. Beware this is not a customer orienated company that likes to retain customemrs. Please pass the word on to others to be aware of this company's business pratices.

Everyone does it

In this economy, credit cards are under fire, and many people who think they have fixed, low rates, just want to pay them off and have it done with. Credit card companies are making up for the loss of revenue (They make money from both, interest, AND commission paid by merchants accepting the cards), by raising the rates of "Targeted" accounts. That is; high balance accounts with no activity except payments.
I had this experience with Bank of America, where my interest rate went from 5.9% to 24.9% by degrees within one year, just because I stopped using the card for purchases and just started paying it down. I simply could not understand why my balance never seemed to change even though I was increasing my payments.
Like the other guy said, you just have to read the fine print

Ive had a Bank one card for quite a few years and up until now have been paying a 6.9% interest rate on the card. If Chase thinks they can come in and raise my interest rate I WILL be cancelling both of their cards. As far as paying online, If you used the same day payment then yes the fee is rediculious. Next time make the payment 3 to 5 days in advance and there wont be a fee. Always read the fine print.

When you called and processed your payment, you were notified that there would be a fee. That was your opportunity to accept or decline the opportunity to make your payment. Your complaining about this...yet your the one that didnt mail your payment on time to get it there before deciding you desperately needed to make your payment. Who's fault is that?
You state you dont know how would charge that amount of money to make a payment...well let's see. I have a Captial One card...the fee is almost $15.00 to make a payment by phone. I have another credit card...that fee is $19.95.... so no..Bank One is not ripping you off.
In regards to your interest rate going up and you destroying the card, and thus not being able to enroll on the website...who's fault is that. The bank rarely raises an interest rate just because. usually it's because you have either had late payments, skipped payments, or crappy credit with other companies...and before you say "well what does my credit with other companies have to do with my credit with Bank One" Well guess what..you having crappy credit elsewhere then causes you to be a CREDIT RISK. Thus causing the bank to determine were going to get as much money as possible before you either charge off your account or claim bankruptsy.... This is how it is with all banks....Sorry...Welcome to LIFE.
