Barker Realty Inc., Carolyn Sommerville Agreed to let me move out early if I found a tenant, I found a tenant but they kept the remainder of that months rent money plus my deposit and I had already turned in my Keys Raleigh North Carolina

This is what happened to me in my dealings of renting a house from Barker Realty in Raleigh, NC.

I wanted to move out of the house early due to barker showing the property every other day to possible tenants (this was very distracting and disturbing).

So, they agreed as long as I found a new tenant that they would let me move out.

Okay, so my friend Bob said he was interested in renting the property(regardless of my honesty in their poor management). So he went and talked to them, they agreed to let him move in as is (no cleaning painting etc.), so I turned in my keys as requested by the assistant property manager (I had already moved into my new apartment and was paying double rent at their property and my new apt).

At this point in time, there was exactly four days left in my lease with Barker - it was on a Thursday. So the next day after turning my keys in and agreeing to their terms, I get an email from the assistant property manager stating that she no longer wished to cancel my lease (note this email was sent on a Friday after 5pm) and I would be responsible for cleaning, removing my belongings etc. That would have been fine but the problem was that my lease ended on Sunday and I had already turned in the keys to the house.

After receiving this email, I called the management company and of course they were closed. I then called again the next week and asked to speak to the assistant property manager, she then informed me that she would not be reimbursing me for the last four days that I didn't stay in the house and she would not be reimbursing my deposit (even though I couldn't get into the house to clean it up). I have all of this documented in email conversations between me and the assistant property manager.

After this nightmare, I told her I was going to contact my lawyer and she laughed in my face and told me good luck, and then mocked me by asking me "what is your lawyer's name? I will call him for you".

This is by far my worst rental experience. Carolyn Sommerville is a total rip-off queen.
