Batteries And Bands Dishonest business practice "tricks" you into accepting unreturnable merchandise ripoff Brandon Florida

I see that Batteries & Bands has already been reported by another person. I wish I had read their entry before I had purchased from this store.

The short version of my complaint is that I purchased an expensive watch from Batteries & Bands on 1/15/07 around 3pm. Less than 3 hours later, I learned my wife had purchased me a similar watch for Valentines Day. (She was none to happy that I had gone out and purchased a watch which 'ruined' the surprise). Anyway, so around 8pm I tried to return the same watch to the store. (a whole 5 hours later)...

They would not take the watch back. Why? The fine print on the receipt claims that you cannot return watches that have been altered an any way, including sizing. BEFORE I HAD PURCHASED THE WATCH, the technician had removed a link to show me that the watch could fit me well. So it had been removed before I ever even bought it. So even though the watch was in BRAND NEW condition, and I HAD THE SPARE LINK WITH ME that THEY had removed, they would not take back the watch. We called the manager at home so I could speak to her about the matter and she became hostile. The same lady (Jodi) that had been soooo nice when I was actually buying the watch. Typical.

I have notified the watch manufacturer (Hamilton) of this retailer's poor business practice, am logging my experiences here, and have also notified the Better Business Bureau in an attempt to explore other options BEFORE taking them to small claims court.

If you live in Brandon, BEWARE of Batteries & Bands in the Westfield Mall in Brandon. (They are in one of the booths out in the middle of the floor). They are very nice when you're purchasing, but when you have a problem, they will slam the door in your face.
