I recently attempted to apply for a job posting through BCG attorney search. My qualifications matched favorably with those identified in the posting. Shorlty thereafter, I received an e-mail from BCG indicating that they could not help me and would not foward my resume to a decision maker at the law firm because my skills are not in sufficient demand. The message did indicate, however, that I could obtain resume and job search assistance from various affiliate sites for a fee.

This message also contained spam for another job search site which prospective applicants pay to search. In the days that followed, I continued to receive e-mails from BCG spamming various web sites that offer different types of job search assistance, all for a fee.

All of this after BCG said they could not help me and refused to forward my resume to a hiring partner. I graduated law school c*m laude, worked on law review, passed the bar on the first try, and had all of the requisite experience for this position.

BCG's failure to provide any help at all after I attempted to respond to what appeared to be a legimate job opening raises a strong supsicion that their entire operation is merely a front for spamming these affiliated pay sites. BCG wasted my time and is misleading many other by holding itself out as a place where applicants can apply for jobs free of charge. If law firms are paying BCG for this service, then they are being done a terrible injustice as well.

Very Helpful

I used BCG attorney search several weeks ago and am pleased with my results. I had been searching for a job for quite some time and had absolutely no leads, however, after 3 weeks of using BCG I am proud to say that I found employment. I must also mention that I was very pleased with the company's recruiters and personal service throughout the job search process. BCG offered me the support and attention I needed to find the right position.

BGG Was a great experience

Moving to a new city and starting fresh was tough enough, I found solitude in BGG Attorney search job search, the recruiters were very personable and extremely helpful. Questions were answered promptly, they matched my resume to the qualifying firms and I am headed to my first interview next week. They are after all the largest job search company dedicated to Attorney's and associates. They have done their part, now it is up to myself to impress the partners next week.

Good experience here

As a recent graduate from Cal Western, with not the highest GPA, I thought passing the bar would be the hard part. It was actually finding a job. I was searching for 6 months before using this service with no luck what so ever, and with student loan payments creeping up it was getting scared. However once I found them, it only took 2 weeks until I got a job. I am so impressed I got a job through the service and was extremely impressed with the company's recruiters and personal service throughout the job search process.

Had good experience

I used BCG attorney search a few months ago and was very pleased with the service I received. I found BCG's recruiters to be very knowledgeable and helpful, as well as responsive to my questions. I received personal attention and service that I had not received from other recruiting and job search companies I worked with. I ended up finding a position through a friend, but I would definitely recommend BCG's services to others who looking for a position.

I think I used a similarly lousy affiliate of this company

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 28, 2007

When I was a 3L I used an outfit called "Legal Authority" to do all of the legwork in getting my resumes and cover letters out. If I recall correctly, BCG is one of the many names used by this same company.

I paid Legal Authority over $500. They had me craft a very generalized cover letter and resume and "helped" me "fix" said documents. They then mailed me a box full of cover letters, resumes, and envelopes for me to sign and stuff. According to them, I was applying directly to the hiring authority at every firm with over 5 attorneys in Northwest Indiana and West Michigan.

The company represented that they engage in continuous research to find out who, at each firm, the resumes should be directed to. At the time, I was working as a law clerk for one of the firms. LA sent (and charged me for) two resumes for said firm. I knew who the hiring partner was, and neither of the resumes they sent me were actually directed toward him.

I was in the top ten percent of my class, on the Law Review, had a year of clerking experience, and was also serving in the legal clinic as a public defense intern, so I had courtroom experience as well. Out of 135 resumes, I got three interviews and no job offer.

So my advice to fellow job-seeking attorneys and law students is to STAY AWAY from these outfits that charge crazy fees and promise the world. As a law student, I should have known better, but I just didn't have the time to do what LA said they would do for me. And as I said above, I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same company.

I'm now semi-gainfully employed with an upstart firm in Grand Haven, no thanks to Legal Authority, BCG, or any other "firm search" outfit that I used.

On a side note, to add a bit of humor to this, one of the three firms that LA did get me an interview with was Dale Sprik & Associates. If you're from GR, then you know who I'm talking about - he's the personal injury attorney with the commercials featuring buffalos and classic cars. When I arrived at his office, I couldn't help but laugh at his sign, which read "Dale Sprik & Associates - Personal Injury Attorneys - Buffalo Meat 4 Sale!" (By the way, I have it on good authority that Mr. Sprik had someone "tie-off" (constrict) the testicles of the buffalos in at least one of his commercials in order to make their genitalia appear larger).

Best of Luck!
