When I first came to this store, the women working there acted as though they cared about satisfying me. They pretended they did, and told me that they wanted to make me happy so that I would return for future visits. Once they had my money (I prepaid for the dresses) that attitude completely changed. Now that they had my money, they felt it was fine to treat me like crap and give me less than what I paid for.

When I went in to pick up the dress after the alterations had been made I was not satisfied. There was an absurd amount of beads falling off the dress, and there were holes in the fabric. I asked for them to be fixed, but was told that they could not deal with me until after Eid. I was made to take the dress home, and told to come back after Eid to fix it.

Well, after I took it home, I didn't want them to say that these were things that I had done, so I took it right back to the store - less than half a day later (and I never took it out of the bag). Again, I was told they did not have time for me, and that I should come back after Eid.

So, I came back after Eid, and I was told that I created the holes in the dress, and that I was the reason that the beads were falling off, despite the fact that I had never worn the dress. I was blamed for it, and they did not seem happy to help me with their mistakes.

I had to come back to the store 3 or 4 times to see if the dress was finally ready, and it never was. Each time I was there they said when you come back next time everything will be ready. I finally got so upset and asked for a refund. I agreed to give them one more chance to fix it and came a week later.

The dress still had a ton of beads missing, glue all over it, and holes in the fabric! When I told them this they said they would fix it right then, so I waited & watched them glue more beads on, wasting 2 hours of my time.

I was also repeatedly (and obviously) lied to. When I would point out a place where there should be beads, they said there were never beads there, but I could see the glue where they were originally glued on. I was also told by 2 different women - on 2 separate trips to the store - that they could, and would, remove the glue that was all over the dress. When I came back for this trip, I was told that it could not be done, and that they would never have said that - but they did, and I have a witness who can attest to that.

Once we were able to work past the beading, I tried to point out the holes in the fabric. When I was showing some of the holes I was concerned about, I again was accused of putting the holes there myself. I was then rudely yelled at, and forced to take a worthless dress home because they refused to do any more for me. I cannot wear this dress because it looks horribly cheap (IT HAS HOLES IN IT!)- despite the fact that I paid $300 for it. They were so rude to me about their bad garment that they literally brought me to tears in the store.

They took advantage of me because I am not from their culture. They manipulated me into paying more for the dresses I bought because they knew I was uncomfortable with bargaining. They then tried to justify all of the problems with the dress, saying things like, "See, you don't know. All people from our culture know that a dress will be like this. This fabric gets holes in it when it is altered, and there is always glue all over the dress."

Unfortunately, when you speak a different language behind someone's back, and their boyfriend standing right next to them also speaks that language, the person whom you are talking about behind their back finds out what you were saying. They would say to me that I caused the holes, and then when I went to try the dress on, they would say that I really did have a point to be upset about because the dress was not in good shape.

Clearly I was ripped off, and I am not getting my money back. The $300 is a sunk cost (as is all of the gas money and time I had to use to go there so frequently). In addition to that, the fact that I was treated so terribly, like I did not matter at all, is what truly makes me so upset about this entire thing. I was first preyed on because I come from a different culture, and then I was ignored (for weeks!), and then I was blamed for their shoddy craftsmanship.

They couldn't even pretend to care about making a good business transaction - all they cared about was that I paid for the dress upfront before they made these holes in the garment.
