Don't let the 'fancy' website fool you-this is a glorified puppy mill! Look at how many moms she lists-you do the math! Also-she charges 3x the price of any other breeder. Conveniently, even though her dogs are 'registered' many of the puppies aren't? Don't support puppy mills-look for another breeder! Her treatment of the puppies is horrid-shut her down so she can't breed more!

FYI: Definition of a true "Puppy Mill"

FYI: According to wikipedia.org:
Puppy mills, sometimes known as puppy farms, are large-scale dog breeding facilities that operate under substandard breeding conditions, causing the development of chronic health problems, temperament issues, and hereditary defects in puppies that come from the mills.
The term can be applied to operations involving other animals irresponsibly bred for profit, e.g. "kitty mills." Animals that have been produced in mills are most commonly sold at pet stores to unsuspecting consumers.
Irresponsible breeding on a smaller scale is referred to as backyard breeding.
Backyard breeding -The term backyard breeder is a general term, sometimes considered derogatory, used in USA to describe people who breed animals without selection for important genetic traits. Usually describes those who allow animals, particularly dogs or horses, to procreate regardless of physical or genetic health as opposed to breeders who intentionally screen and select their brood for important characteristics.
Responsible breeders raise their animals with the intent to produce a healthy dog, and to provide a quality pet for responsible owners. Good breeders will take into consideration breed-specific health problems, genetic screening, physical condition, age of the dog and temperament before producing litters. Good breeders carefully nurture the mothers and the puppies they produce. They constantly check the puppies' health, and ensure they are properly socialized.
As the sole owner of Beneath the Bark Kennel, I am a "responsible breeder" (as defined above), as has been attested to by three Missouri State Licensed Veterinarians, the Missouri Department of Agriculture Division of Animal Health, and numerous past customers. I have never received a single non-compliant item on all of my kennel inspections. In point of fact, I have received many compliments on the care, conditions, and health of my dogs from all the people and agents mentioned above.
Thank you!
Carol

Beneath the Bark Kennel in West Plains, MO is a reputable breeder, NOT a "puppy-mill"!!

The person who is slandering my good name on this forum is apparently doing so due to the fact that I refused to sell her one of my registered schnauzer puppies with a long tail, dewclaws intact and natural (un-cropped) ears! I have never before been requested to do so in the entire 10 years I have raised schnauzers! I don't know any reputable breeder of registered schnauzers who would take a deposit on a puppy this way. Should she have decided to declined to take the puppy later, the likelyhood that someone else would purchase it is highly questionable. Therefore, she could have caused the puppy to not have a loving home.
In reference to her comment, "Don't let the 'fancy' website fool you-this is a glorified puppy mill! Look at how many moms she lists-you do the math!", apparently she hasn't been observing my website as I never breed any dog (male or female) who is not in EXCELLENT breeding condition. Either that, or her math doesn't allow for the fact that most dogs have puppies in litters (multiple births per pregnancy), not individually. (I have ten females and currently only six available puppies. Nine, if you count the three just born and not yet old enough to be posted on my website.) Also, my home and facilities are regularly inspected by three State Licensed Veterinarians and the Missouri State Department of Agriculture Division of Animal Heath. I always receive glowing reports from all of them and all of my customers have been very pleased with the cleanliness of my facilities and the care I give to my dogs. They all love the puppies they have obtained from me. I offer references on my website page titled "Prior Customers" and have many repeat customers. I also offer verifiable proof of registration and my ownership of the puppies I raise.
This person did not ask for this information and so has no basis in fact to say that any of my puppies are not registered. Had she bothered to do so, she would have discovered to her dismay that ALL of my dogs (including the puppies) most certainly are registered!
Her comment that my "treatment of the puppies is horrid" can only be in reference to the fact that I have my Veterinarians crop the ears on my puppies, since this was her sole concern when desiring one of my puppies. She still desired to purchase one of my puppies for the full purchase price stated on my website up until I refused to sell one to her "au-natural" (her term). She contacted me AFTER having seen my prices for one of my puppies on my website. So, I suppose her statement of, "she charges 3x the price of any other breeder", did not matter to her (even IF it were true). I honestly believe that she would probably be much happier with adopting a puppy/dog from her local shelter.
I know many breeders of the size and quality of schnauzers which I raise and in most circumstances my prices are on the lowest end of the scale.
PLEASE feel free to check out my website and see for yourself! I am always happy to address any serious legitmate customer's concerns and delighted to provide quality, healthy, loving pets to equally loving homes.
Truthfully yours,
Carol
